Quinn, Kurt and Rachel had finally gotten a few hours of sleep as well, once the Puckerman brothers left with the promise of calling them later in the day to check on Santana. Neither of them got too much rest though, they were all worried sick about the brunette Latina and all of them wanted to help her, but honestly didn't know what to do. The one having the worst nightmares was Quinn. She had claimed the couch since there was no way she was sleeping with Santana, not today. She was just as mad as she was worried, and she couldn't help but realize how madly in love she still was with the stubborn Lopez girl. She didn't know what she would have done if something happened to Santana, and she definitely didn't want to think about it.
Quinn woke up around eleven to find Rachel already up, sipping on a coffee quietly in the kitchen.
"Is Santana still asleep?" Quinn asked, her voice deeper than usual for the much needed sleep.
"Apparently" Rachel replied and neither of them spoke much more. Not even when Kurt joined them around half an hour later. Passed the first few hours they were all equally concerned about Santana's state. They all wondered if they'd have to take her to a hospital nonetheless.
Suddenly a knock on the door pulled them out of their thoughts and the three of them frowned, they weren't expecting anyone. Rachel was the first to move and opened the door, her eyes widening at the sight of the tall blonde standing there.
"Brittany?" was all she managed to say and Quinn's attention was caught immediately, moving her head so fast she almost got whiplashed. Stepping towards the front door she glared at Brittany.
"What are you doing here?" she asked harshly as Britt stepped into the house.
"Santana called me" she said matter-of-factly "Where is she?"
"She called you? Why did she call you?" Quinn replied, a hint of jealousy in her voice that made Brittany supress a smirk.
As no one answered her prior question, Brittany simply brushed across Quinn and Rachel towards Santana's room.
"She needs a friend right now, you know?" the taller blonde said before disappearing from their sight.
"Why is she here?" Quinn asked Rachel as if the short brunette had all the answers.
In Santana's room...
I was taken back to reality by a soft knock on my door.
"Santana, are you awake?" a soft voice I would recognize anywhere whispered. My eyes darted open and I tried to get up.
"Britt- awh" I groaned falling back to the bed as I felt my head throbbing. I was feeling way better but still had the worst hungover of my life.
"Whoa you really look like shit" Brittany said with a soft chuckle as I felt her sitting down on my bed beside me. "At least you are not crying your balls out anymore, I really didn't want to pick your eyes from the floor and put them on ice and everything to save them..."
"Britt" I said with a chuckle. My ex was rambling again.
"Why is Quinn so mad at me?" the question made me give her a puzzled look. Is Q really mad? Jealous? Maybe she cares about me? Of course she cares you fool, she has been there the whole time.
"S-she is not mad at you, Britt" I stuttered, finally gaining enough energy to get up, slowly this time, I learnt my lesson, and hugged my best friend tightly "You didn't need to come here, Britt, but thanks" I whispered.
"Duh, you fucking a guy sounded like an S.O.S call, you totally needed and intervention, and I guess the three drama queens that are in the living room are too mad at you at the moment" she said, wise like always. If just people paid her more attention, they would notice she was far from the dumb blonde everyone thought she was. I simply groaned and took a few deep breaths.
"I'm a mess, Brittany. No matter how stupid this was, it was a wakeup call for me, Rachel and Kurt are right, I've thrown my life away. I need to take the reins back, I just don't know what to do" I said, finally being able to think clearly.
"Tell me you are not doing this just for Quinn, Sannie. I thought you liked working at the Coyote Ugly"
"And I do, but for some reason lately I've been feeling like a whore. I love the attention, I love dancing and I love the clients, but you remember sophomore year when Rach told me I'd end up dancing on a pole? Well that's the way I feel. I didn't want to admit it to myself but everything has been going downhill for a while now" I said. Talking to Brittany had always been so easy.
"Why didn't you tell me any of this before? I could have kicked your ass earlier" she said with a soft playful smirk.
"I needed to prove I'm able to take care of myself, but apparently I'm not"
"To who? To Quinn?" she rolled her eyes.
"Well yeah, to Quinn, and Rachel, and Kurt, and my parents. And myself. I wanted to be a real adult, leave the person I was in high school behind, grow up and mature, but five years have passed and I still feel like that scared young teenager" I said with a sigh.
" Don't be so hard on yourself, Santana. You have grown up so much. I'm so proud of you" Britt said making me look up at her in disbelief, but I couldn't find anything but plain truth in those blue eyes, making me smile in the sweetest way. "Maybe you are not doing exactly what you planned, but you live with Rachel and Kurt and still haven't killed them, in fact, I know you love them. Also you worked very hard with Mercedes. I know all the engagement, the wedding, and now their super romantic honeymoon has left you on the dry side of the road for a while, but you'll get back to it. You know Mercedes can't be without singing forever. And you are mature enough to realize that what you did last night was completely out of line and I'm sure you'll never do it again" her speech left me speechless. Actually looking at it that way made me feel I could be somehow worthy after all.
"How do you always know what to say?" I asked looking at her in awe.
"You know I'm the most expert person on the Santana Lopez's field" she answered matter-of-factly "C'mon you need to get some food into your system, and I'm dying to see Quinn glaring at me again. She is so funny, like I was going to threaten her or something. You guys are not even together and I do love you and you are the hottest person I've ever known, but you know I don't think about you like that anymore..."
"Britt" I interrupted her again with a smile.
"I'm rambling again, aren't I?" she asked chuckling and I just nodded before getting completely up from the bed, testing how my own weight felt, but not trusting my knees so much.
Once I was steady enough, Brittany offered me her arm to hold on to and I gratefully did. Then we both walked into the living room.
As Brittany had said, Quinn shot her death glares when she saw us together, and I shot death glares at her.
"Q" I warned and instantly she looked away, but didn't say anything. She was still mad at me, I could feel it.
"How are you feeling?" Rachel asked carefully, breaking the tense silence.
"Honestly? Hungry as hell" I said as my stomach growled and we all laughed, even Quinn, finally easing the mood. Now that they knew I'd be okay, they all seemed relieved.
