"Elena." A soft voice says.
I feel someone gently shaking my shoulder, begrudgingly I open up my eyes slowly, when my vision comes slightly into focus a I notice someone leaning over me. I let out a yell and upon instinct punch the person square in the face, I quickly scramble out of my bed backing away from them in a defensive stance. That's when I realise that I just punched Derek, Derek seems more amused than hurt as he regards me with his beautiful eyes.
"Bloody hell Derek." I breathe out running a hand through my hair as I remember why he's here and I'm reminded that this is the best nights sleep I've got in what feels like forever.
"Good morning." Derek says and I playfully glare at him.
"Elena, I just want to say-"
"Is that the time?!" I yell cutting him off when my eyes land on the clock hanging from my bedroom wall.
I rush around my room collecting everything I need, I run into the bathroom closing the door behind me. I take a quick shower before getting dressed and doing my hair, since I'm running late. I quickly exit the bathroom grabbing the final things I need.
"Sorry I'm supposed to meet Stiles." I quickly explain as I collect my things.
"What did you want to say?" I ask looking up at him, his eyes look like they want to say so much but all he does is shake his head and sigh.
"It's nothing, you should go Stiles is probably waiting." He says and I hesitate but one glance at the clock has me halfway out the door.
"We'll talk later then, Yeah?"
"Yeah..."
"Thanks for everything Derek, Bye!" I half yell as I run down the stairs and towards the garage.

I pull up in the school parking lot, Stiles and I haven't spoken much since that night...I thought it better to give him some space. He texted me yesterday saying he's going to the guidance councillor and we can talk afterwards, well mainly I'm gonna help him practice for the Lacrosse game tomorrow. I grab a few of the gear needed that I "borrowed" from coach and head towards the Lacrosse field.
"Hey.." I turn around my eyes connecting with Stiles, I really wanted to talk to him after that night at the station but I felt like he needed some space.
"You ready to have your arse get kicked?" I ask trying to lighten the mood.
"I don't see what the point of this is, I never play."
"You never know." I say and I grab a ball trying to remember what I can, I've never actually played lacrosse but Stiles taught me how when we we're younger.
We play a few rounds but I can tell Stiles heart isn't really into it, he seems distracted and I can only guess why. I sigh and call it a day starting to pack up the equipment and dumping the stuff in the boot of my car. I walk back over to Stiles who's sitting on the bleachers and I take a seat next to him.
"I was paralysed on the floor watching Matt hit my father over the head, my father could have died and I couldn't do anything." Stiles breathes out looking across the field.
"I want to help Lena, I want to be able to help you guys, help protect this town but I don't have supernatural abilities. I haven't been trained to fight like you have....I...." Stiles trails off and I scoot a little closer to him taking his hand in mine.
"You look at Scott and you see his supernatural abilities, you look at me and you see my years of training, yes these aspects help us and yes they are what keep us alive and what helps protect Beacon Hills. We count on these skills and you might not have training or inhuman abilities but Stiles you are the smartest person I know and it's your wits that you must rely on. It's your smart ass plans and detective skills that'll keep you alive and protect Beacon Hills."
That was probably the most sentimental speech I've ever given in my life, silence swirls around us as my last words disappear into the air. Stiles and I stare at the lacrosse field wandering what tomorrow night will bring, probably just another chapter to add to this nightmare year.
"But is it enough?" Stiles finally asks referring to his wits.
"Who ever said Scott's werewolf abilities will be enough? We'll never know all we can do is wait and see."
"What happened to you? You sound like Gandalf." Stiles says.
"What? Old?"
"No wise." Stiles says scoffing.
"I've always been wise, I'm ninety two in my head." I jokingly.
"Oh my ghosh my cousin is a grandma!" Stiles exclaims.
"No need to shout, my hearing aid is turned on." I say imitating and old woman's voice and Stiles looks at me weirdly.
"You're weird." He says shaking his head.
"Well duh."
"You ready for the game?" I ask looking over at Stiles.
"With everything going on a lacrosse game should be a piece of cake." Stiles says.
"No."
"What do you mean no?"
"Cake makes you fate but lacrosse keeps you fit."
Stiles looks at me with an expression that suggests I've completely lost my rocker, I just shrug looking back at the field. Perhaps Stiles is right I should really get my mental state checked but since I have no urge to go on a killing rampage I'm sure I'm still good.
"Do you think I'll play tonight?" Stiles asks.
"I mean one of my team mates are dead and Isaac is missing." Stiles says and I purse my lips.
"What happened to Isaac anyway?" I ask and Stiles shrugs, hmm maybe I should ask Derek the next time I see him.
"Well if you do play, just don't suck." I say and I flash Stiles a smile.
"Honestly you should become a motivational speaker." Stiles mumbles sarcastically.
"Yeah I'd win an Oscar for worlds best motivational speaker."
"You can win an Oscar for that?" Stiles asks pulling a face and I roll my eyes.
"Doubtably."
"Oh great there goes my only chance at winning an Oscar."
"Yeah like you had a chance." I snort and Stiles glares at me.
"You're mean."
"You're insults need an upgrade."
"Is it an insult if it's a fact?" I gasp in fake hurt.
"Stiles Stlilinski how dare you say that line! My father will hear about this." I say standing up flicking my hair over my shoulder, I go to make a dramatic exit but I miss the step and fall onto the field in a sprawled out mess.
Stiles looks at me for a full five seconds before breaking down in fits of laughter struggling t regain his breath. He almost rolls off of the bleachers as he laughs and honestly I don't get what's so funny but considering Stiles is laughing I'll take it. I just hope that smile lasts but I doubt it.
Another filler chapter sorry! I was planning to start the lacrosse game in this chapter but I got carried away in writing Stiles and Elena's relationship because I love writing the two of them acting like siblings!
Anyway the second chapter shall be the start of the ending of this books since season two is almost done and then hopefully book 3 will be on the way!
