Hana Yori Dango, is the best-selling shoujo manga of all time, yet.
And one of the classic manga to read from the early 1990s.
As an extremely popular shoujo manga, it had numerous adaptations- a customary anime and a span of dramas from different countries and different years.
Like Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura, this is also an iconic shoujo series which broke down the records.
So...while reading it you'll have to go with a high expectation.
And see if it really is that great or not...

First off, what I'd like to say is that its premise is very engaging.
It interests you from the beginning to read and see what happens next.
Especially since knowing that it's a romance, it's intriguing to see where this goes.
A group of some of richest guys in Japan? F4? And this ordinary household girl Makino Tsukushi.
The first few chapters contain some really violent bullying by the way,
some of the things were quite agressive as well.
I find the characters the best part of this manga, although without the basic storyline and the drama it wouldn't half as good... but really it's the characters why you feel so interested to binge read it.
Especially for a shoujo manga series like this, one of the male leads (Domyouji Tsukasa) was quite the complex and interestingly written character.
He's a bit different than most of the other male leads we see in this romance category. In fact Domyouji was my favorite character.
And the character interactions were a wholesome part of the series!

Art wise, it's also good. Yoko kamio REALLY draws some of the characters incredibly while some of the characters look just good.
But the backgrounds are all evenly detailed and it can go dreamy and bubbles when a romantic scene pops up.
Although, the kind of art style change in Volume 16 was for the better, Makino's new hairstyle looked just a tad bit bland though.
That's all.

Overall, I didn't love it but Hana Yori Dango is definitely something I digged and enjoyed. I also enjoyed the Kdrama version and the Jdrama version...(The Jdrama is closer to the feels of the manga tho.)

8/10.
