Chapter 11 Evolving (past event.)

Solarnia's P.O.V.

I was sitting in the middle of camp with Mystic watching other Espeons go on about their day feeling bored. It's been a whole year now since I was brought to this group. Mystic and I became very close friends but Athena on the other paw seemed rather more distant than he once was as he was always spending more and more time with Apollo instead, and whenever he was around us he avoided me. It hurt at first but I got over it. 'Apollo got inside his head.
Mystic sat up "Ugg, I'm bored come on let's go out or something." I looked at her "We can't we're still not allowed to go out on our own." Suddenly Athena walked over to us looking pretty happy.
"Good news sister! Apollo talked to Hollycloud and they decided it's time we evolve!" He smiled "We'll be full members of the group as Espeons." I felt excited but I noticed a look on Mystic's face.
"Oh? Umm yea.. that's great...." Athena looked just as puzzled as I felt. "what's wrong? You do want to evolve don't you?"
"Well yeah, it's just.. not into an Espeon." Athena looked taken aback by that.' "What? Of course, you do! You do want to be part of this group don't you?" Before she could answer I broke in.
"Well, I most certainly don't I'd rather go out and live my own life." Athena looked very annoyed that I spoke. "I wasn't asking you! Did you put this nonsense in her head?"
"Of course she didn't!" Mystic snapped. "Why are you always mean to Solarnia? you used to enjoy playing with us what happened to you?" His eyes darkened. "Apollo opened my eyes that's what happened. Her mother was evil I'm not sure we should trust her she already despises this group."
My ear flickered. "Um, it's kinda hard not to when they're the ones who killed my mother."
Mystic sighed and Athena leaned close to her. "Hey, don't worry you won't regret being an Espeon." This somehow made me angry. "Why is it so wrong of Mystic to want to be something else? Maybe I don't want to be an Espeon either!" He glared at me. "How dare you! You have to become Espeons! Are you trying to get my sister killed?" I paused pinning my ears back. "Of course not. I just think it's a bit silly that we have to follow Arthur."
"Show some respect!" Then Hollycloud walked over towards us looking proud. "The time has come for you three to become full members of our group of Espeons." He looked at me. "Good job Solarnia I am very proud of you. Now the three of you must go and return as Espeons."
I hesitated but Mystic gave me a gesture that I should follow. "Come on Solarnia let's go."
I followed her and Athena out into the forest.
Mystic let out a sigh. "OK let's just get this over with." Athena looked pretty eager. "All alright."
He sat under the sun staring up at it and already started glowing I felt amazed at how fast it was happening then once he appeared as a full Espeon he smiled. "I've been practising with Apollo a lot so I'm already at the right level."
Then he turned towards camp and padded off. "I'll see you back at camp ok Mystic." She nodded then once the two of us were alone she looked at me. "Are you ready?" I smirked. "No, not yet. I need to be under the moonlight to become an Umbreon." She looked shocked her eyes widened. "No, you can't! Are you crazy? Solarnia they will burn you alive for such a thing! You know what they think of dark types."I glanced at her. "So, why don't we just leave? I know you don't want to stay either." She frowned. "It's not that simple.. plus I have family here. I can't just leave."
I felt a bit disappointed then she caught my eye. "What? Are you planning something?" I heaved a heavy sigh. "I don't belong here Mystic I am leaving." She looked upset. "No please don't Solarnia you won't get far Hollycloud will send them out to kill you especially if you are an Umbreon." I paused "Well, at least I die being what I choose." She put her paw on mine. "I don't want you to go. Solarnia you're the greatest friend I could ask for I need you." I paused hesitating. I do care about Mystic a lot I felt my heart tightens at the idea of leaving her.
'But can I really stay here? She's the only Mon who cares about me.
I closed my eyes thinking for a bit then opened them again. "Ok, fine I'll stay.. for you." I winked at her and She got happy and hugged me. "Oh, thank you Solarnia! you had me worried for a bit." I slowly nodded. "But I still don't want to be an Espeon." She looked down. "Well, me neither honestly."
"So what do you want to be?" I asked and she met my gaze. "A Vaporeon," she answered.
"So why not then?" I asked.
Her eyes lit with panic. "No, I can't! They will kill me too. If we don't evolve into Espeons we'll be punished for it." I opened my mouth about to say something when I heard Athena yell.
"Hey, what's taking so long? Mystic!"
Mystic looked up in a panic. "Oh, Athena me and Solarnia were just-" I cut her off "She doesn't want to be an Espeon leave her alone!" Then to my shock, he struck me and pinned me down snarling. I stared up at him in shock. "Don't be putting that in her head! Are you trying to get my sister killed?"
"Athena please get off of her!" I heard Mystic plead. Then suddenly I saw Mystic glow as she evolved and then pushed him off of me.
Athena growled but calmed a bit when he noticed she was an Espeon now. "Good, you did the right thing Mystic. I need to talk to you later OK." He walked off and I could tell Mystic was very unhappy with her choice so I made up my mind. I evolved into Espeon and walked up to her. "Oh come on it's not the end of the world Mystic... and you're not alone." She smiled a bit. "Well, we should get back to camp now." I followed her then once we got back I noticed Athena was sitting with Apollo both watching me. Athena looked a bit nervous as his gaze fell on me. Hollycloud looked happy. "Everyone I'd like to welcome three new Espeons to our group.
Everyone cheered our names then something else caught my eye an Umbreon standing at the very edge of the group was watching I felt my heart quicken with joy. 'Mother! It's her! but how? She's dead. Then I heard a soft voice in my ear. 'I will always be with you. you have a special gift.
Then she was gone.
