"Report in. What do you guys have?" The Commission leader asks over a video call with two of the agents they sent to trail Hawks. Stalking they did, like a predator with its prey, waiting in shadows of the light.

"As we guessed, we can't get close the manner at all, but he seems to spend most of his time there." One of them says, adjusting her black glasses. The spies have tried hacking the security system multiple times but to no avail. "He never leaves alone."

"Makes things more complicated. She is a bad influence on him. He's acting like a damn bird, not a pro hero. That red-headed bitch is a bad influence. " Her partner chimes in.

"Then we need to get her out of the picture using any means necessary. I have killed for much smaller prizes than a Number 2 Pro Hero, but if he cares that much for her, we may need to use her as ransom to remind Hawks he is our property. Find a way to bring her to us," the President says. "We can't let him slip away."

"Understood Madam, we will keep our eyes on him and report back once we have more information on him." The two of them bow as they cut the feed.

Hawks swallows the lump in his throat as he steps through the doorway of the abandoned warehouse, trying to keep his composure. He can still see the burn marks on the wall that he remembers looking at when Dabi had him pinned on his back, ready to end his life. His mind flashes to Rogue heroically saving Hawks by his own quirk, flying him out of the building. He remembers lying on the cold ground as she loyally fought for his life. For me. He thinks, still humbled by the experience. Meeting Dabi never got easier. I have a mission, Hawks thinks as he conceals his trembling hand into his pocket, for my home and all of Japan.

"On time again, Birdy. You must really look forward to our meetings. And no shadow this time. You're a fast learner. That must be why they call you the Number 2 Hero. We both know it's not because you are actually skilled." Dabi taunts, his turquoise eyes glistening in the night like the blue flames he wields torching those he hates.

"What can I say, you must have scared them all off, Dabi."

Dabi slinks up to Hawks, his tattered cloak swaying behind him. Hawks hands Dabi a manilla envelope, as instructed by the commission. Dabi takes a moment to skim through the documents before looking up to Hawks with sneer.

"Good bird, didn't expect you to get all this info about the Commission so easily."

Hawks jumps as Dabi's hand clasps Hawks' shoulder and smoke and blue flames flicker from Dabi's hand. Hawks stiffens with fear as Dabi looms over him. Hawks can see the look of triumph in Dabi's eyes.

"See, you've learned your place. I think you've earned the right to return to our base." Dabi's eyes narrow as he leans closer to Hawks. "What, do you have issues with my flames?" he smirks.

Trying to mask the fear coursing through him, Hawks shudders under his baggy clothes as he meets Dabi's cold stare acting as confident as he can muster. "Not at all. I mean, you're no match to your dad. It's quite disappointing, honestly."Hawks flinches as the flames flicker bigger, then vanish again. Seeing pleased and pissed off look cross Dabi's features at the mention of Endeavor.

"Just know that if you fuck up again, I will make sure my flames are the last thing you ever see as I burn you to nothing."

"Remember, focus your concentration," Jeans' voice echoes through the underground training room, traveling upwards to the top of the crevice.

After his interaction with Dabi, Hawks had to go see her, despite Endeavor's wrath surely awaiting his return. It had been a long overnight flight to get here, but the second Hawks hears her voice, it all is worth it. Hawks hovers in a darker corner of the training room, hardly able to hide his excitement to surprise her.

As Jean and Magma continue their training, the elevator door dings and Scott walks out and into the overhang. What's he up to?

Hawks' wings twitch, indicating something is actually wrong, despite this being a training sessions. Looking up, he sees a larger boulder above them that is loose and about to fall onto Magma and Jean. Despite longing to jump in and save Jean, Hawks hangs back, remembering their recent hour-long conversation about her distaste for men thinking women can't handle their own problems.

As Magma activates her quirk, trying to shoot magma at the boulder to melt it back into the wall, the boulder dislodges and plummets straight towards her and Jean. The young ladies scream at the sight of the boulder coming at them. Jean acts swiftly, preparing a forcefield to block the boulder and activating her levitation to trap the boulder in place. A sudden red blast from near where Hawks is perched rings through the air.

*SMASH.*

"Scott!" Jean screams, flying herself and Magma up from the crater.

"Are you guys okay?-"

"What hell?! Why did you do that?" Jean snaps, her emerald eyes blazing with fury. Hawks quietly watches as he moves off his perch.

"Helping, of course. Good thing, for you girls, I was here. And no need for thanks." Scott says smugly. "That's what we heroes do— rescue Damsels in distress."

Jean storms off with Magma following behind her. Scott swiftly on their heels trying to get Jean to talk to him. Hawks follows keeping a distance behind.

Reaching the main level they exit the elevator. "Come on what did I do?" Scott presses Jean more.

"Alright you want to know! You were being a dick!"

"Excuse me?"

"I was trying to teach Amara to handle things that go wrong on her own. Which does not include a big, strong, testosterone-raging man to show up to save the day!" Jean walks into the door slamming door in the process.

"The nerve." Magma says right as Hawks comes around the corner. Though he has heard everything, thanks to his quirk, he plays naive.

When Magma sees Hawks, her eyes light up. "Hawks!" She gasps, dashing up to him for a hug.

"Good to see you too, Embers. Where's Jean?" Hawks hugs her back and glances at the door his girlfriend had just went through.

"I wouldn't bother her. She's not in the best of moods right now."

"Good to know."

"Where are you off to, Feathers? I figured you would hanging out with Jean by now." Logan asks, looking up from where he was washing his motorcycle and the cars park outside garage when Hawks steps outside.

"Oh, hey, Silver Claw. I was just heading out. Chickadee isn't really in the best mood right now."

"That doesn't sounds good. Want a ride and we can talk about it?"

"No, I'm good." Hawks casts a pointed glare at the motorcycle. There's no way on the planet Hawks would get on the back of that thing. "Besides", he continues, "I'm giving her some space right now. Scott and her just got into fight."

"Let me guess, Scott butted into something she was doing which pissed her off?"

"How did you..?"

"I've been here for many years Feathers. I've know those two for the last 8 years. Scott and have a complicated relationship, at best."

"What do you mean by complicated?"

"I- uh... you and Jean need to talk."
