Hawks paces his living room as he alternates between running his hands through his wet, sweaty hair and stress preening. On his wings, patches of missing feathers have become scabs with few feathers breaking the skin with blood and pin feathers start sprouting. Waiting to hear back from Endeavor is agonizing.

"Damn ittt." He slams his arm against the wall, followed by his head. His phone buzzes with yet another message, though Hawks has still not checked messages from Scott, his dad, or anyone but Endeavor since he found out Jean was missing. He decides to start at the bottom and start replying.

Scott: Haven't heard from Jean she doing okay?

I'm skipping that one.

Professor X: Son if you need we can use the X-Jet to pick her up if there was a problem with the airport.

... and that one... Hawks scans his phone for a message he can reply to.

Kitty: Let Jean know to bring back some souvenirs and to tell Deku and his classmates hi.

Okay, I can do this.

Hawks: Thx but she decided to stay for a bit longer, she'll get in touch when she's free. I'll give her your regards.

Hawks swallows a lump in his throat. Lying felts horrible, but the thought of telling them felt worse.

Hawks then looks at the message he recently received from Tokoyami.

Bird bro: Sensei are doing okay? Deku and told us Jean is missing. We wish to aid you if you will allow us to.

Shit.

Hawks to Bird bro: I am okay, don't get involved. I'm working with Endeavor on this.

Hawks' phone buzzes again from the one person that could be worse than his dad and Scott right now.

Burn Patch: I hear you can't even protect your girl from your own people. Looks like we're now both screwed by our fathers. Rumor has it, your dad is friends with the commission.

Burn Patch: Maybe we're not so different after all. Welcome to the dark side. Remind me to send the commission a thank you for making my job easier.

Hawks to Burn Patch: we couldn't be more different. I mean, with your charming personality, who could imagine ever abandoning you?

Burn Patch: I think it's your parents that abandoned you. I walked away from my asshole of a dad.

Hawks to Burn Patch: I will rip every staple and burn patch off your body one-by-by one.

Burn Patch: Try. I will roast your scrawny chicken ass every time. I'll finally get those stupid wings of yours so people can finally see how worthless you are without them.

Hawks throws his phone across the room and collapses on his bed.

She's my mate, my girlfriend. Maybe Dabi's right. Am I that shitty of a person? What I am I doing here moping? I've gotta go find her.

Tossing on his shirt and gear, Hawks looks at the door, knowing on the other side is one of Endeavor's sidekicks making sure Hawks doesn't leave. Smirking, he opens his window. You can't guard windows Enji.

******

"He is going to come find her, Madam. Hawks is good at what he does."
Daisuke says, walking alongside her as a group of commission leaders they head to a meeting.

"We are aware, Mr. Hoshiko. We have been training him since he was a boy. We will set this straight before it gets out of hand even more. If we have to remind him, we will. Now, go track him down and get him here."
