My alarm rang a half hour earlier this morning than it did the rest of the week. Today was the day, today I'd start my new school. After years of moving around, different homes, different neighborhoods, and different friends. Here I was. I was lucky, my mom said that this time we might just be able to stay.I put on my uniform and combed my hair into a refreshing ponytail. I wasn't sure if anyone in my new school would like me very much but the least I could do was try my hardest. Finally I pulled up my knee high stockings and put on my shoes. I took in the morning air in a deep breath. My baby blue painted room which hadn't yet been decorated with my countless fairy lights and paintings would soon become my sanctuary. I made my way to the bathroom and after brushing my teeth, I headed downstairs to be met with movers still in the process of picking up countless boxes and placing them down at random.
Then there was my father at our recently set up dining table. He had this look of disdain on his face that I knew wouldn't shake off easily.
"Good morning (y/n)." He said almost as cold as ice. He didn't even look up from his paper, he just continued to read while spinning a levitating spoon in his coffee.
Quirk: (y/n)'s father: telekinesis. He is able to mind control objects within 6 ft of himself.
"Good morning dad." I replied strictly out of common curtesy. Still not even bothering to look up, I passed by my father and moved into the kitchen where I was met with my loving mother.
This woman was the epitome of goodness and any bad day I had would instantly turn right around the second my mother would have anything to say about it.
"Good morning my dearest angel, I've got your lunch all packed up for you. Some ramen and sticky rice sound good love?" She greeted me and asked in the most comforting way possible.
"That sounds great mom. Thank you." I looked up and hugged her as soon as I grabbed my lunch and was on my way out the door. My mother could be seen waving to me in the window while I'm sure my father didn't even bother to move from the dining room table.
I knew the school was just around the corner from my new house so I shouldn't have much trouble getting there in this new neighborhood, however I still somehow managed to get myself lost. I felt like an idiot trying to retrace my steps. By this point I knew I'd be late to school and I was on the verge of tears. But I told myself I wouldn't cry. No matter what, I was done crying about everything. I was 11 years old now, I wasn't a baby anymore. I clutched my backpack a little harder and kept moving forwards. It wasn't until I saw a sign for the school that I knew I had made it. And I was only... 10 minutes late oh shoot! I had to run.
I ran as fast as I could into the school and through the winding hallways. Trying to find my classroom...no...no...finally! I busted into class and was met with the staring eyes of about 20 other students and an upset looking teacher.
"I am so sorry Sensai, I didn't mean to be so late this morning, I got lost." I said in a bow. She only looked at me with fury in her eyes.
"What is your quirk child?" She asked me out of what felt like nowhere and I gulped hard before responding.
"I don't have one Sensai." I answered her question and the entire classes eyes lit up except for one boy in the back. His golden eyes stayed focused on the desk in front of him. I was curious about this boy but my thoughts were soon interrupted by the frustrated teacher.
"You'll sit in the back with Chisaki Kai, and while you're at it try not to cause too much trouble." Her eyes scrunched as she deemed me to the back of the class, and was this simply because of my quirkless state? There were many other open wooden desks by the front, however, she demanded I sit in the back corner furthest from sight of the board.
I slowly glided past wooden desk after wooden desk. I didn't know how to feel. I wanted people in my new school to like me and accept me even though I was quirkless. But was that too much to ask for?
I placed myself down in the back of the class next to the same golden eyed boy that I had been so curious about before. He looked lonely, he also looked hurt somehow. Not physically but emotionally. He looked as though this wasn't his first run in with the darker parts of life. And still I wanted to know this boy.
"Hi, I'm (y/n)." I softly said to him as he gazed into my direction.
"Hi, I'm Kai." He replied. From that moment on, we were on a doomed path of love and destruction. If only I had known that that one exchange would change my destiny forever. If only I had known better at 11 years old.
