Kai looked at me sternly from below his hood. "Now we have to get out of here without being noticed." He whispered.

"What? Why?!" I whispered back in confusion. At that he rolled his eyes and grabbed my hand from across the table.

"Come on dear, I think we should get out of here." Kai projected his voice like he wasn't just talking to me.

I could feel my eyebrows furrow at the remark but with the pro hero here and Kai's obvious nervousness, I decided it was best to just play along. We stood up and that was when I noticed the pro hero Nighteye starring at us from the corner of his eye.

Me and Kai walked to the door and just as I was about to grab the handle I turned to see the pro hero getting up from his seat.

"Come on angel, let me get that for ya." Kai said as he reached for the door handle, still obviously trying to hurry out of here. But something about the tone of his voice gave me comfort. For the first time in a while, I felt like if I fell, I had someone to catch me. I know he was just putting up an act, but I couldn't help my stupid heart from fluttering.

When we made it outside, it was a bit brisk. The nighttime air had most definitely set in and I crossed my arms and shivered a bit.

"You have to tell me what that was all about?" I questioned Kai. But only to see him look around anxiously.

"Look, I'll tell you in the car." He replied. I was a bit taken back. First he said I shouldn't be around him, now he was kidnapping me? All I'm saying is the man needs to sort out his priorities.

"What car? I can't go off with you! I have to go back to my friends!" I shouted, almost completely forgetting about Nora, Aria, and Kiori.

"Look all that matters is now you've been seen with me. If you don't come with me, you'll be interrogated, or worse." Kai rebutted. Then once a smile propped up on my face he started again. "Don't get the wrong idea, I don't care about you. I'm just trying to save my own ass." My smile disappeared the second he finished his sentence. There was a brisk silence for a couple of seconds until the door to the cafe propped open. We were only maybe 10 meters away from the door when we saw who it was. The pro hero.

At that point Kai grabbed my hand and started speed walking. At first he was nearly pulling me along, but once I caught up to his pace we were walking side by side. We walked past the apartment on the opposite side of the street and from under a streetlight I turned and saw that the pro hero was following us. He kept a distance away from us, probably trying not to get noticed, but the second I turned back, Kai just pulled me faster.

I won't lie when I say I was more than a bit nervous. In all my life, I had never been in a situation quite like this. Being pulled away by a mysterious man I knew in my childhood, it almost felt like something I'd read in a book.

Suddenly, Kai nudged me and took his hand off of mine. He then placed his hand on my waist and spun me 90 degrees around a corner into a dimly lit alleyway. Once we entered the alley, he took his hand off of me. As if to remind me that this was only an act.

In front of me now was a black luxury sedan. I could feel the silence between us almost as much as I could feel the thick air graze my skin. There was very little light in the alleyway and only Kai stood between myself and the car. Then he made his way to the passenger seat door and opened it gently. He then gestured for me to get in.

I was still taken back at the fact that this is what I was doing. I mean, who in their right mind gets into a car with a stranger from their childhood who's currently hiding from the pro heroes aka the law. I couldn't shake the fact that there was something wrong with this situation, but at the same time, it felt like this was where I was meant to be.

I got into the black sedan willingly, Kai closed my door for me and then walked to the driver's side. Within seconds, the driver's door opened and he popped in. He sat down, adjusted his seat and almost the second after he closed the door, he took off his mask. For the first time in a while I saw it. The face of the boy I once cherished with all my heart. But his face was cold now. It used to be so filled with light and love, but now it was cold and expressionless.

"Well if you're going to gawk at me, I'll just put the mask back on." Kai then said as I starred at him. To be honest, I didn't realize I was starring until he said something. Now I just felt awkward as hell. We sat in silence for a second until he continued. "I hope you know this is a privilege, and it's only cause you don't give me those damned hives."

A few seconds after that, he started the car and we pulled out of the alleyway and into the night.
