"And that was the last time Katie saw Blizzard, flying Jeremy through the aurora borealis" Kali said as we cut back to the present day in Dan's room.
Dan appeared confused. "No, Kali... She had to see Blizzard again"
"Yeah, after everything they went through" Verago added.
Kali only shook her head 'no'.
"But you said their friendship lasted forever" Dan said before becoming upset. "This has been a terrible story. I feel worse than before! Why did you tell me this?"
The adult adventure girl simply smiled to the young boy. "Oh, Dan, I haven't told you everything. There's still the three Christmas gifts"
"What gifts?" Dan was completely bewildered.
Kali smiled as she explained the last bit of the story. "Santa came that Christmas and left Katie another present. I bet you can guess what it was..."
"And the second gift was even more valuable. Katie and Erin became lifelong friends. Santa was right. True friendship is a very special gift indeed and you never know where that gift is going to come from next"
Dan looked to the long-time adventure girl curiously, asking. "How is this supposed to help me not miss my friends?"
Kali smiled, replying. "Because the third gift was the greatest gift of all... Whenever Katie wanted to be with Blizzard, all she had to do was close her eyes and look inside"
"Blizzard helped me, and espically Katie to understand that just because a friend goes away, a friendship doesn't. It lives forever..."
"In here" Kali placed Dan's hand over his heart.
Dan smiled, now understanding and hugged his friend. "Thank you, Kali"
The adult adventure girl smiled, returning the hug. "Oh, you're welcome, kid. It was my pleasure"
"Oh, by the way..." She asked Dan. "What was the name of one of your friends again?"
"Jessie Cameron" Dan replied. That was the only one of his friends Kali didn't know about.
"I thought so" Kali smiled.
Just then, they heard the doorbell ring. Dan looked at Kali before heading down to answer it. When Dan opened the door, the biggest smile he ever had spread across his face as Kali came up behind him. It was as if a Christmas miracle just happened.
There standing at the door, was one of Dan's old friends, Jessie Cameron. Along with Jessie's great aunt Millie. Millie was smiling at Kali as if it seemed they knew each other.
Dan turned to Kali, nearly in tears as he hugged her again. "Thank you, Kali!"
"All right, enough with the hugs. Why don't you guys get out there and play" Kali told them.
Dan and Jessie laughed as they grabbed their sleds while Kali and Millie watched them go off. But Kali still had one more surprise, specifically for Millie as she came up to her saying.
"It's been so long"
Millie nodded, smiling back to the adventure girl. "Indeed it has... Old friend"
Millie then closed her eyes and said. "Merry Christmas, Blizzard"
Just then, Kali's crystal shined a beaming light and when Millie opened her eyes, she looked up towards the sky hearing a familiar voice.
"Come on everybody, keep up!"
Millie couldn't believe her eyes while Kali smiled as there, out of the clouds came Blizzard, flying down towards them along with DJ and three young calves who were their offspring.
Blizzard landed in front of the two adult women, looked directly at Millie and said only one thing.
"Merry Christmas, Mildred Katie Andrews"
