Song:"home" Edward Sharpe (cover)

"I follow you into the park, Through the jungle, through the dark

Girl I've never loved one like you

Moats and boats and waterfalls, Alleyways and payphone calls I been everywhere with you

Laugh until we think we'll die, Barefoot on a summer night
Never could be sweeter than with you

Like it's only you and me, Jeez, you're something to see.
Home is wherever I'm with you"...

A year later,October 2006

The moment plane Boeing 737 from Washington landed in Chicago all passengers started clapping for the pilots but Michael was too tired for that.
After closing the project this afternoon,he didn't waste much time and caught the first flight back home.

It was a bittersweet experience. One on hand he was glad he would finally see his family. He had missed them so much during that one year and a relief settled upon him, knowing he was near them again.

But the other part of him wanted to never come back here, where he got his heart broken, the heart that was still healing.

The first few months had been the worst. She visited him in his dreams every night, sometimes a sweet dream and sometimes a dreadful nightmare. In a town full of people Michael felt lost, like he was a ghost. He had become numb and colder in the time spent crying over her.

He worked and worked,so his brilliant mind would always be busy, because every free minute was spent with her occupying his brain.Memories of them together, smiling and dancing would suddenly blurry his vision and he had to try to pull himself together hard,so he wouldn't fall apart in front of a whole room of people.

Every night when he would go home to his rented flat the void filled him instantly and he found himself watching the few photos they had. He'd fall asleep on the couch, hugging them to his aching chest and imagining it was her he was holding. And sometimes awful images of her leaving him or being raped by inmates would startle him awake and he stood awake for the rest of the night.

The months in Washington were going by but his life was all the same, except for the fact that around the sixth month he opened his eyes one day and the hurt of her betrayal wasn't so heavy on his heart anymore. He was able to breathe lighter, without feeling the strong pain in his chest.
