When Sara lost Michael over a year ago, she never believed that she would be standing here today, looking at herself in the mirror as the beautiful white gown engulfed her body and she couldn't stop the happy tears from filling her eyes.

She never believed that she'd have the chance to say yes to one of the most important questions in her life and to the most important person for her. After fucking up her first marriage and losing her real love, the doc couldn't be thankful enough for the way things turned out.

Unlike the first time Sara wore a white dress, when she was on the verge of breaking down and running away, too unhappy to say yes to Dylan, now she was impatient.

Her heart was beating furiously in excitement and awaiting. The wide smile on her face even hurt her cheeks and Katie had to occasionally give her a handkerchief to brush away the happy tears, scolding Sara of ruining her minimal make up

But seeing Sara so happy, Katie couldn't help but cry a bit too. Her friend had been through a lot and seeing her like this now was one of the most amazing things ever. The nurse was actually sure those two cuties were soul mates. They deserved everything good that came their way.

It seemed that things were finally working the way they should for them. With the money Michael got from selling the loft, they bought their very own not so big flat in Manhattan, spending the whole March in decorating and furnishing their love nest.

They had nights in which they slept on mattress on the floor, eating pizza from the box and the only sounds around them was the never ending traffic on the streets in the city that never slept. And on other days, when both of them had their day off, they would often end up being dirty with paint all over them.

Sara especially loved the days when they'd sit down after painting all day, huging each other and Michael would tell her stories from college. She just loved knowing more about him and was curious to know more and more about the person she was head over heels in love with.

Thankfully, Mr. Lockwood, Michael's boss, had an engineering building in Manhattan in which he put his best engineer to work. It was a little far from the neighbourhood where Sara and Mike lived, but he didn't really mind. They were both getting used to the wilderness of New York.

And as for Sara, she decided to take a break from the medical world and got herself a job in one of the local dogs care centers.Spending her time around animals felt beyond great and she had even made a friend. Marla was her name. She was a nice quiet woman with long brown hair and was kind enough to show Sara around and get her into the work.

It was chilling really, for everything to be so perfect for them. And Sara couldn't wait to become Mrs. Scofield in just an hour. Sara Scofield.Ever since Michael asked her to marry him on Valentines day in Chicago, the doc couldn't stop saying it, testing it on her tongue and as a result her heart would start hammering like crazy everytime. She just couldn't believe it.

They didn't have to hide any more.Holding hands or kissing In public without the fear of being caught felt ecstatic. They could freely show their love for one another in front of the world without a doubt and this was honestly the best thing. They were free

The couple had been through so much together and now they were stronger than ever. Changing the promise rings to wedding ones was... It was the most awesome thing that could of ever happened to them.

"honestly, if Michael wasn't such a lucky bustard for marrying you, I'd steal you"

Katie beamed with the biggest grin on her face as her chocolate eyes roamed the beautiful white gown. At that Sara let out a giggle and turned away from her reflection so she could face her best friend, her pointer finger pulling back a strand of hair behind her ear

"I'm the lucky one here"

The bride admitted, trying not to let the darker memories of what she did to Michael engulf her. He was here, with her and he loved her, so much. That was all that mattered to her now. This was her truth and reality and she wouldn't change it for the world.

Sara watched as Katie stood up from the edge of the bed and took her hands in hers, a reassuring smile gracing her features.

"I'm just glad you're happy"

the nurse said quietly, meaning every damn word. When Sara told her she was getting married Katie couldn't contain her excitement and booked her family's plane tickets the same night so she was sure not to miss her best friend's wedding.

"and I'm also glad the tears are happy ones this time"

Katie added, squeezing Sara's hands in hers in support. The differences between Sara's first and second wedding were immaculate. But what really mattered was that her friend was happy.

At Katie's playful remark, Sara couldn't help but laugh softly, distantly remembering how unpleasant it felt to say yes to Dylan and become Mrs. Hanks. Those times were long ago behind her. True, maybe her and Michael were moving a little too fast, but they were both eager to have it all. They had waited long enough

"let's just scratch that from my life story"

The doc scrunched her nose a bit, a grin spreading on her tiny lips. The only way to forget your past was to learn to embrace it first. So instead of blaming herself for what was and what could of been, Sara chose to move on and heal and it turned out in the best way possible.

"Right. Now let's go make you Mrs. Scofield"...
