Numb. That's how Alec felt. He didn't know what to feel or to say. After all the love and all the memories of them, what hurt them the most was Alec loved Magnus too much? It had never even occurred to Alec that his love for his Magnus would be the cause of Magnus's suffering. Yes, they did think about times when Alec would die and Magnus would live on but, that suffering would be because Alec wouldn't be there anymore; unlike right now where Alec was sitting in their home, on their bed, hugging Magnus's pillow to find some of his husband's essence in it, to find some comfort.
Moreover what was nagging him was the fact that Aloysius was Magnus's own brother. How could someone stoop to such a level just because he wanted a person the other person had; Alec would kill him if he even thought of breaking them apart. Yet, he had not only thought but even acted towards breaking them and making them almost lose each other, but Alec was helpless he didn't know how he could save Magnus and defeat someone so ancient and powerful. Here the goal was not to only defeat Aloysius but prove Magnus was innocent. Even though there were traces of Aloysius's magic on the bodies but the magic that sucked up the immortality and became the reason of their death was Magnus's.
No matter how hard he tried but he couldn't think, couldn't concentrate or find a way out of all this. Though he wanted to save Magnus but he couldn't think rationally his heart was hurting due to the amount of pain he had seen on his husband's face. Magnus would never admit it loud but Alec knew how much Magnus craved having a family of his own; magnus wouldn't admit but he had prayed for Asmodeus to change and love him like a son. That's how deep was their love for each other, they didn't have to utter a word and the other would just know what they are thinking. A love where they could be themselves and could wish from the bottom of their heart and the other instead of judging would stand beside them and pray.
Even recalling Aloysius's words were boiling Alec's blood. How could someone be so selfish? Alec being himself did try to understand Aloysius, he did try to give the other a second chance at a good life but the latter just wanted to mess up everything and that too for the sake of something so unethical. It was like Aloysius had lost the rational part of his brain and no amount of reasoning would ever bring him back. But, now was no time to dwell upon what the other had said; he had to get back his husband, his Magnus.
While Alec was so lost in his thoughts, Ragnor couldn't believe what he had just seen. Somehow his friend would always be on the wronged side. After Magnus met Alec, Ragnor thought that his friend did have a shot at being completely happy; cause not only Alec but even his family had welcomed Magnus with open arms.
He entered Alec and Magnus's house to see Alec clutching onto a pillow, which he presumed was Magnus's, Alec was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't even hear Ragnor coming in.
"Alec." Ragnor called, but didn't receive any response.
"Alec!"
"ALEC!""Huh. When did you get here?" Asked Alec.
"Just now. We need to think and act fast Alec. I think I may have an way to get Magnus out of all this but we need to find the spell that Aloysius used on Kol and Finn. It is more ancient than the records of civilization go. Asmodeus would've know but now he can't possibly help. Azazel won't help because Aloysius is his spoilt brat. We need a way to get Aloysius to speak up on the spell he used but we don't have anything in our favor right now."
"We have a way. Me! I am the way we can get Aloysius to speak about the curse he used on them."
"Okay, But that's too risky. We can find another way. I'll just need little time."
"We are running out of time Ragnor. Time is the only thing we don't have right now. It's a luxury we can't afford. I am going to meet him tonight."
"And what happens when he asks you to prove your intention towards him, Alec? Do you think he'll just blindly trust you after the way you walked out right now!"
"I don't know Ragnor, I just know one thing that my husband is suffering and I'd die, if it means his suffering will end."
Ragnor stayed quiet he knew Alec was as stubborn as Magnus when it came to either of them. It was the purest yet stupidest thing he had witnessed in all his years of living.
He sighed knowing there is no way out of it."Fine, but I'm gonna be there with you, just like right now. When are you leaving?" It seemed the only sane way to Ragnor. He knew Aloysius was very powerful but that didn't mean he wouldn't try to save his friends. He won't say but he'd die trying too.
"In an hour I can't wait any longer." He was relieved that Ragnor wasn't trying to talk him out of it, because they had absolutely no time to sit and argue and Alec knew he wouldn't backdown.
"Don't you think you should meet Magnus once before executing this stupid plan of yours?"
"I don't think so. He'll know something is up with me and would do something to stop me. I love him too much to let him stop me."
"And what happens when you won't come back?"
"Tell him that I always loved him and will continue to do so even in death. I'll be waiting on the other side for him."
"I won't, you have to come back to tell him this. I'll leave, I have to get some spells before we leave. I'll come back here and then we'll leave. Clear?"
"Yes sir."
And with that Ragnor left for his own house.
