"Annie! Get your ass out here girl!"
I jolted awake and wiped the drool from my face. I rubbed my eyes and grabbed my phone form up under my pillow to check the time.
"One thirty?" I asked myself, shocked. I've never overslept before and even when I wanted to my mom wouldn't let me. She would say empty hands are worthless hands or some shit like that. The fact that this was the first time she hadn't bothered me out of my sleep let's me know that she isn't home and hasn't been for hours. I rolled over and peeked out of my blinds and saw Naheim leaning against a car looking up at my window. I opened it and stuck my head out.
"Did you just wake up?" He asked me.
"Unfortunately, yes."
"Disappointed in you, Annie! Hurry up and get dressed or we'll be late."
"How do you know if my parents are here or not while you're doing all this yelling?"
"Both cars are gone. Now, bring ya ass!"
I didn't know if I should feel flattered or terrified that he knows so much about me that he knows when both cars are gone that my parents are gone as well. I shrugged it off, not thinking much into it. I didn't know where we were going so I didn't quite know how to dress which was more annoying than I thought it would be. I quickly showered and shaved then went to my closet, looking at my different articles of clothing. The weather in Rochester had drastically changed and I knew I needed to bundle up a little. I settled on a pull over sweater and some light blue jeans. I pulled out my timbs and slid them on then went to my vanity mirror. I hadn't been wearing much makeup lately and Naheim seemed to still be attracted to me, at least I think he is. I rubbed some moisturizer on my face and brushed my hair up into a neat bun on top of my head. I had forgotten to put my bonnet on last night and my hair was too tangled for the small time window I had. Putting my pendant on, I grabbed my house keys from my dresser and ran downstairs to meet Naheim. Once out the door, I quickly pulled out my phone and went to the alarm system app my mom had me install and put the code in. I hoped I did it quick enough that she didn't notice or at least my dad was the one to see it.
Naheim was leaning up against the same car Coron was driving that day he picked him up from the basketball court. He smiled at me as I approached and I couldn't help but to smile back.
"Hey you," I said to him. He opened the passenger side door for me and I slid in. It reeked of weed but I didn't want to show my discomfort on my face. The seats were nice and warm. I looked down and saw Naheim had the seat warmer on my side turned on. He got in beside me and saw that I was looking down at the knob.
"Is it too warm? I can turn it off. I figured you'd want it on since it's a little chilly out here."
"It's fine, thank you. So, where are we going and how did you manage to get Coron's car?"
"What makes you think it's his car and not mine?"
I looked at him with a straight face and he started laughing.
"Alright, you got me. I asked Coron if I could hold it for a little."
"And he let you? Did you tell him you were coming to get me?"
"Not sure why that matters."
"I don't think your brother likes me."
Naheim put his foot on the break and moved the gear shift. "You have to do a lot for Coron not to like you."
I started to protest but decided against it. Who was I to argue with him about his own relative?
"Where are we going?" I asked him.
