"Isn't she showing up?"

Rina paused, looking down. The dark-haired girl looked to her with desperation.

"Isn't she?"

"She isn't..." Rina eventually admitted, quietly.

"Is she still sick?" Neko asked. Rina stayed silent. "Is she?" Neko repeated.

"She..." Rina looked down. "She wasn't sick in the first place."

In that moment, Neko's entire world fell apart. "She isn't? Then why isn't she here?! This is important; our biggest live ever is supposed to start in five minutes!"

"We'll have to do it alone."

"Our new song is for three people!" Neko refuted, "All of our songs are!"

Rina closed her eyes tightly. "Then we shouldn't have accepted in the first place..."

"What do you mean?"

Opening her eyes slowly, Rina took a deep breath. "She was never going to make it. Even when you accepted this offer."

"What do you mean? Can't we just... drag her outside?!"

"She moved away."

Neko froze.

"She... what?"

"She moved away. To America. A couple of days ago. Told me... didn't tell you apparently."

By that point, tears were forming in Neko's eyes and beginning to run down.

"I didn't want to tell you on her behalf, and I didn't want to tell you to decline, since this is your dream..."

"You should have."

No response.

"You let me waste all of that time, practising for my dream live only to tear it away from me at the last second by telling me my closest friend is halfway across the world?!"

No response again.

"Why? Why didn't you just say something?! Now we're gonna have to go out there and disappoint everyone; something that could have been avoided if you two weren't keeping secrets from me!"

Rina couldn't think of a response, instead opting to listen to Neko trying to hide her sobs.

It... hurt to hear...

Another ordinary day. Occasionally listening to the teacher whenever he mentioned anything interesting, but otherwise zoning out as she waited for her first job to roll around.

At least, that's what Aya had expected.

"Good morning everyone," her homeroom teacher, Manaka Kazuki greeted, "Today, we have a new student joining us!"
