You'll Know It When It Happens

(The next morning)

(My pov)

Me: "Well, today's the day."

I thought to myself, slowly waking up, knowing today was when President Kimball arrives to boost morale here.

Me: "I guess I better get started."

I got dressed, and headed up to the mess hall for coffee and a breakfast ration. Once I got those, I looked around for a place to sit, I then saw my crew waving at me to sit with them, so I did.

Chesney: "Good morning Honeybee, sleep well?"

Me: "Just fine. What about y'all?"

Jesse: "I'll sleep when Kurumu is back in my arms."

Me: "We'll get her back, I promise, but for now, let's focus on the President."

Jake: "Well, there will no doubt be legion snipers, so Jason and I will be on the watch towers."

Cole: "A few other brotherhood knights and I will watch the roads for anything suspicious."

Chesney: "Mizore and I will be in the crowd, for spies."

Me: "What about Queen Thalia?"

Chesney: "She went home after you fell asleep, but she wishes us luck."

Me: "Good, were gonna need all the luck we can get for today. What about the autobots, and the other three guys?"

Jake: "The autobots are covering the roads from boulder city, to make sure our other allies make it safely here. The other three are bringing weapons from their worlds here, to make sure we have every advantage against the legion."

Me: "Good, let's finish up here. I want to give a speech of my own."

(Small Timeskip)

Me: "Is everyone outside?"

Cole: "Yeah, all you gotta do, is say what you have to say."

I stepped out, onto the stage, and everyone cheered.

Jake: "Now, here to give us all a speech of his own, Captain Barina."

Me: "Good morning everyone. As many of you in the crowd know, y'all have come to fight for a world y'all have never seen or heard of before. Some of you are probably thinking, why the hell are we even here? All I will say is, y'all are here because your leaders believe in freedom, and safety of all the universes. Right now our enemies gather across the river, and plan to wipe us all out, and exploit the resources of all the universes. I will not lie; our enemy is well equipped, and will fight savagely, but we are stronger, and together, we will show them no fear, no quarter, no pause, and we will show them NO MERCY!!"

Everyone cheered, and stared, gathering everything for President Kimball's arrival.

Me: "Grant, is the president almost here?"

Grant: "Looks like that's his vertibird coming in now."

I looked and saw a vertibird with the NCR logo coming into view.

Me: "EVERYONE IN POSTIONS NOW!!"

I yelled, as everyone nodded and moved to their postions, around the stage area and watchtowers.

I stayed near Ranger Grant, and watched the President be escorted by Colonel Moore, and 4 NCR Veteran rangers to the stage.

Colonel Moore: "And now, I am proud to present, the President of the New California Republic, Aaron Kimball."

All the NCR started clapping and cheering as Kimball stepped forward and started giving his speech. A few minutes into the speech, an engineer walked into the crowd; it was strange because engineers were only allowed on the watch towers. I decided to radio Honey Suckle.

Me: "Honey Suckle, that engineer in the crowd, activate your invisibility and search him."

Chesney: "On it, Honeybee."

She activated her invisibility, and began searching the guys pockets. A minute later she ran up to me.

Chesney: "He had this."

I took it from her hands; it was a detonator.

Me: "Good job my love; I'll report this to Grant."

I walked up to him.

Grant: "Shouldn't you be keeping an eye out for anything suspicious?"

Me: "We found this on that man over there."

Grant: "What the hell; he must've been trying to blow up the President. Nice find, I'll have my guys take him away."

In an instant, two rangers came towards the man. He drew a knife and killed one, as the other ranger killed the engineer. The President was then evacuated.

Grant: "The President is secured; report to Colonel Moore, now."

We saluted, as I ran to Colonel Moore.

Colonel Moore: "Is the President safe?"

Me: "Yes, he's out of here."

Colonel Moore: "Good, *sigh* this whole event was ill advised from the start; report to General Oliver; he's been waiting for you."

Me: "Yes mam."

(Timeskip)

General Oliver: "Well, you took your sweet time."

Me: "Well, it's a big place."

General Oliver: "Let's get down to brass tactics. You've done so much for us, and were hoping we can use your unique abilities, to aid us once again."

NCR engineer: "Sir, I don't know what happened, but a bunch of legioneers just stormed into the power station."

General Oliver: "Into the power station; how is that possible?"

NCR engineer: "I don't know, but on the way, I've heard of a camp set up on the eastern bank, led by some guy calling himself, the Legate."

General Oliver: "Alright, new plan, were gonna have to deal with this legate. I've made calls to our allies, so we should get support pretty soon."

Me: "I'll take a team to take out the legate."

General Oliver: "Good luck."

I activated the NCR radio.

Me: "All units in hoover dam, the battle has begun; I repeat, the battle has begun."
