"My name is (Y/N)," I said, finally introducing myself.
"Well.. (Y/N). That just won't do," Vexen said, exchanging a glance with axel. "Now that you're with us, you'll have to change what people call you. You'll need an organization name."
My eyebrows furrowed at the statement. What? Change my name? "Why would I change my name?"
"Well, since I sort of rescued you, Vexen ran some tests on ya. We have confirmed you are definitely one of us. And since you're showing signs of being strongly willed.. well, the boss said he wants you to join us." Axel rubbed the back of his neck after saying his piece. His voice sounded a little more apologetic now. "And you.. don't really have a choice in the matter, aheh."
I sighed and rubbed my temples. Okay. I guess I should have expected this. I passed out on the street in a town I've never heard about. I don't even know how I got there in the first place, anyways. Honestly, I don't really have anywhere else to go. And what am I supposed to do? I don't really know where I came from or where I'm supposed to be. I don't even know if I have a home. And so far, I feel like I can trust these guys. So.. what have I got to lose?
"First things first, I need to know some things," I said. I was still way too confused about everything to go without interrogating them. "You said "one of us".. what do you mean by that? What am I joining? And why the hell do I need to change my name?" A few feet away, Vexen threw away the used bandages in the trash. "You're a nobody, just like us. A being with no heart, no emotions."
"Hold on a sec, no emotions?" What does he mean? I feel just fine. How could a person not have emotions, anyways? "That's right," Vexen said. "No emotions. You'll learn as you become a more experienced nobody. It's something that makes us strong."
I still didn't really understand, but Axel spoke up before I could question him further. "You're joining Organization XIII. I'll fill you in on the details later, don't you worry." He smiled mischievously at me, making me smile back. I felt a little fluttering in my chest at the interaction. "And also, what Vexen meant is that because you're with us now, you're going to have to follow our naming schemes. So what you're going to have to do is take your name, (Y/N), and scramble it. Pop an X in there and you've got your name."
"Huh.. alright. Let's see..." I thought for a moment, using my fingers to help keep track of the letters I was scrambling. After a moment, I finally had it. "How about.. (Y/X/N)?"
"(Y/X/N), huh..?" He nodded. "I like it. Sounds good."
Vexen sat down in a chair across the room at a desk. He decided to speak up this time. "Yes.. number XVI, (Y/X/N). That's quite fitting of you." The number he attached to my name made me confused, but I decided not to question it. I had a feeling I would probably find out about it later.
"Right, now that we have all that out of the way.. I suppose I'll be showing you around," axel said, standing up from his chair. He held his hand out to me, and I took it to get up. I took care to not get up too quickly, so once my feet touched the floor, I was stable. "Thanks," I said, and he smirked a bit and nodded in response. "Follow me."
We made our way out of the room and into a white hallway. The sound of his boots hitting the floor made a pleasant sound. In recognizing the sound of his shows, I realized that I had been dressed in the same clothes. A black coat and heeled black boots. Black pants underneath. I think I felt a tank top under the coat, but I couldn't tell right as of the moment.
He led me to a very large room, grey room with a few couches sitting about. "This is the grey room," he said. Go figure, I thought. "We normally hang out around here if we're bored or don't have a mission to go on." On one the couches, a pink haired man and a short blonde haired man sat playing what looked like poker. The pink haired man was obviously losing, but was very cool about his loss. "Those guys over there are Marluxia and Luxord," Axel said, taking notice to the fact that I was looking at them. I nodded.
"Oh, newbie's awake?" We heard a somewhat nasally voice from behind us, and we both turned to face whoever it was behind us. It was a man with blue eyes and a blonde mullet. He was holding what looked to be a very large blue sitar. "Yeah, she seems to be doing good so far," Axel said in response.
"Well right on then," he smiled. "I'm Demyx. Nice to meetcha." He had a lazy feel to him. I felt like he could probably be a good friend. I would keep that in mind for later. "I'm (Y/X/N)," I introduced myself. "Nice to meet you too."
We then parted ways and he went to sit on one of the couches. He started to pluck at his sitar, obviously just enjoying doing nothing. Good on him.
Then, Axel led me down another hallway. We passed a lot of very identical doors, and I started to get nervous that I may need a map of the place to get around. Axel eventually stopped walking in front of one of the doors. "This, is your room," he put a hand on his hip and gestured to the door. "Ladies first." I chuckled at the statement and opened the door. Entering the room, I saw a large window, a grey bed, a door for a closet, and an open door that led to an attached bathroom. There was a bedside table at the head of the bed.
I walked in, and he followed me through the doorway. I sat down on the bed and stretched. "Well, it'll certainly be nice to have a room of my own. Your boss is extremely generous to give me board," I said, pleased with the accommodations. "Well, I guess you could say that," he shrugged. He sat down next to me on the bed.
"Alright,I should probably go ahead and explain a few things that didn't get addressed earlier."
