"Okay," I said. Maybe some of the questions I had would get answered.
"So first thing's first. About this organization.. our mission is to become whole again. We're nobodies," he glanced at the floor. "And nobodies don't have hearts. We aren't supposed to feel emotions. We want to become human again." His voice was really smooth. I stared at his as he talked. I felt those butterflies in my chest again, and I wondered why. He didn't realize I was staring at him until he made eye contact with me. He stared back at me for a moment and then smirked mischievously.
"Whatcha staring at, huh?"
I felt heat rise to my cheeks. "Nothing. It's nothing," I said. I panicked to find something to ask him about. "Why are you guys called Organization XIII?"
"Oh, there's thirteen.. well, fifteen people in this organization. You're number fifteen." He was talking with his hands again. I chuckled at it. "Okay, what number are you then?"
"I'm number VIII," he said. "Since your fifteen, you're sort of low in the ranks. But hey, there's only six numbers between us! If anything happens, I'll stick up for ya." He pointed at himself with his thumb, almost proudly, then patted the back of my shoulder. Honestly, his words sort of comforted me. "Thanks," I smiled. "I'm still kind of confused but I with you showing me the ropes, I'm sure I'll be fine."
"That's the spirit! Anyways, there's two more things. First, I told you our goal, right? We want to become people again." He stood and walked over to the window on the opposite side of the room. "And out there, is how we're going to do it."
I got up and walked over beside him. Looking out the large window, I finally saw what he was talking about. Outside, glowing in the darkness, was a huge moon in the shape of a heart. It was beautiful. "Woah.."
"Yeah, I know. That's what we like to call, Kingdom Hearts." His eyes glowed with the moonlight. The neon green of his irises were beautiful. "We work to try to fill it with hearts from defeating monsters around the worlds." I nodded. "I'm assuming I'll be doing that too now that I'm here, right?"
"Yep, you will be," he said. "Only once you summon your weapon, though."
"Weapon?"
"Here, let me show you." He moved away from the window and held one of his arms out towards me. Flames appeared in his hand, and then in a flash a big red crackram appeared in his hand. It was red, black, and silver and looked very sharp and dangerous. "Woah!! That's so cool!" I could hear the excitement in my voice. Wait, aren't we supposed to not have feelings? Oh well. I'll just ignore it.
He looked amused. Again with the emotions.. I'll have to ask him about that later. "Hell yeah it is," he said, summoning another into his other hand. "These are what I like to call my Eternal Flames. They're my weapons. Chackrams. And as you can see.. I can also control fire." He held out a finger, and a flame danced at its tip. "And you," he said, "have a weapon too."
"No way! What is it??"
He chuckled and crossed his arms. "Well, I'm gonna help you figure that one out."
"Seriously?? What do I need to do?"
"Well, hold out your hand like this." He held out his hand in front of him. "Right," I copied him and looked over at him. He nodded. "Good. Now, focus on your hand. You should feel a tingling sensation in your palm. Will that to come forward." He did what he just instructed me to do, and one of his chackrams appeared in his hand.
I closed my eyes and focused on my hand. I felt the tingling sensation he was talking about. I took a deep breath, and hoped that it would come forward. I focused on manifesting whatever it was. Nothing came. I looked at him.
He gave me a sympathetic look and shrugged. "Try again. It might take a little bit." And so, I tried again. I closed my eyes and I felt the tingling sensation in my palm, and focused. I willed it to come forward. In a flash, it was there. My hand wrapped around a handle.
Once I opened my eyes, I finally saw what it was. What I held in my hand was a whip. It was black and dark green, and felt comfortable in my hand.
"Hey, how about that! Fast learner!" He smiled, and I felt myself blush a little bit again. I swung the whip around a little bit. "So, now that you've got your weapon, you'll need to figure out your specialty. That's probably gonna take you awhile, but I know you'll get it eventually. You don't need it yet, so you'll be okay."
"Right, okay. Any idea as to what it would be?" I asked. I was curious. "No idea. It could be anything really. My specialty is fire. You met Vexen, Demyx, Marluxia, and Luxord so far. Their elements respectively are Ice, water, plants, and luck. Those are just some of the members around here. You'll get more used to what people can do around here once you start to go on missions." I nodded and brushed a stray hair behind my ear.
He stretched. "Anyways, got anymore questions? If not, I'm gonna go hit the hay. It's getting late." Late? I couldn't really tell the time. It looked like it was dark outside constantly. I shook my head "Nah. I think I've got everything." He walked towards the door and waved one of his hands at me to signal he was leaving. "Well, alright then. If you need anything come find me."
He set his hand on the doorknob. "Hey, Axel," I said as I walked over to him. "Thanks. I appreciate you showing me the ropes." He rubbed the back of his neck. "Aheh.. yeah, no problem."
And after that, he was gone. The door closed behind him, and I fell back on to my bed. Today was a crazy day.
-
I closed the door behind me. Wow. That girl really has some potential. I'm glad I was the one who got to show her around. I walked down the hallway, my the heels of my boots echoing. I almost felt.. lonely walking down these halls alone. I could go bother Roxas or Xion, but they'd probably be asleep. I almost want to go back and talk to (Y/X/N) some more.. but she's had a long day. I'll leave her be.
I turned around one of the corners and kept walking.
"Axel."
I heard a voice from behind me. I looked over my shoulder and saw it was Saïx. "Yeah? What do you want?" I turned around to face him. His presence was always very commanding, but he was still my friend. I could still see the charming glint in his eyes, despite how his personality is now.
"How is number XV?"
"She's doing well. I caught her up on the basics. She even summoned her weapon. First day, too," I said, still impressed by her.
I could tell he somewhat seemed surprised, even though you couldn't tell it on his face. "That's very impressive. Then it seems she is ready for missions. (Y/X/N) will start to be assigned soon."
"Whatever you say. She'll do fine," I put a hand on my hip. "Now, is that all?"
"For now," he said, and then walked past me. He left me alone in the hallway. I sighed. He acts like a robot, almost. I get that we're not human, but he can at least act like a one.
I kept walking until I reached my room. I walked in and laid down on my back on the bed. I stared up at the ceiling for a moment before closing my eyes. I'm sure things in Organization XIII will start to become more interesting from now on.
