"How did you get out here anyway? " he finally questions to change the topic."You're not gonna believe it. " I reply as I know he certainly won't.
"Believe what? " he questions.
"You see that window up there? " I question turning around and pointing at the window through which I feel.
"Yeah? " he replies.
"I fell out through it. " I finally blurt.
"You're kidding right? " he questions in disbelief.
"I wish I were. " I reply honestly.
"No way! " he replies once he sees I'm being serious and he can't help but laugh. I also join in on laughing at the crazy near-death fate.
"God must love you to keep you after such a fall. "He comments.
"Perhaps my mission here has only just begun. " I reply with a smirk and he looks at me. Our gaze meets and his smile slowly fades. I get lost in his brown eyes trying to understand the emotions in them.
"We... We should get going" I finally speak as I realize we are holding a mini staring contest.
"Yeah" he agrees as he stands. I pack the leaves and put them in my pockets. I then make to stand but I crash back into the bench. ~OUCH!!! my back hurts!!
"Are you alright? " he questions.
Of course, I'm alright. A stupid back pain isn't something I can't handle!
"Y... Yeah... I'm fine... Its... It's just a minor back pain from the fall" I reply."I don't think a pain from such a fall could be minor," he replies and I ignore him.
I make to stand again and I scream when I hear my back snap. I collapse into the bench and maintain a frozen position.
"That didn't sound good. " Desmond notes.
I try to stand one more time and I bite my lips as pain takes over my entire back. I give up and sit back down."Here, let me help you. " Desmond offers.
He sits beside me and puts one strong arm around my waist pulling me closer to him. I feel goosebumps cover every inch of my skin and I feel my cheeks burn. He then puts my hand over his shoulders and holds unto it with his other free hand."Ready? " he asks as he makes to stand.
"Mmm. " I reply with a nod. We make to stand at the same time and with Desmond as a support, my back doesn't hurt so much!
"See. You don't always have to struggle on your own. "He says to me.
"I'd learn that lesson once I find the right partner. " I reply.
"You would, but first you need to learn to be less annoying," he remarks.
"Excuse you. I'm not as annoying as you're sassy," I reply.
"Hello, sassy is a thing for girls! " he remarks and I smirk as I know I'm getting on his nerves.
"Well, meet yourself. The first boy in the Guinness book of records to be sassy. " I reply further annoying him.
"You see that window up there?." He asks using his eyes to point at a window a few feet above us.
"Say one more word and you'd be flying out of it next! "He threatens.
"You wouldn't dare! " I reply. A little in shock and also in confidence.
"You really wanna find out?? " he whispers as he looks down at me. I accidentally hold his gaze and ~boy his eyes tell a lot of untold stories.
"N... No... I'm... I'm good. " I manage to stutter. My gaze still lost in his. I understand that he is so complex but he needs to loosen up. There is as much pain as beauty in his eyes.
My leg comes in contact with a pavement and I almost fall but he manages to catch me.
"Watch it. I don't think you'd look too good with a missing tooth. " Desmond says and I bite my tongue to keep calm. Could he be less annoying for once in his life!?
"I know I'd still look cute but you might lose a tooth to my fist if you don't stop piecing me off! " I warn.
"With those tiny fists? " he questions with a chuckle.
"You really wanna find out?? " I reply using his line against him.
He suddenly pulls me closer to him. "Behave Deborah. Behave" he warns looking into my eyes.
"Make me. " I reply. My gaze was once again lost in his. We both fall silent and the beautiful night takes this time to sing its glory as all that I hear are the leaves dancing the wind, the chirping of birds and crickets, and for some reason, I can hear water claping~is there a lake nearby?. I also smell beautiful flowers. My gaze is still lost in Desmonds.
"Le. Let's get going. " he suddenly speaks. I clear my throat in a bit of embarrassment as we finally begin moving again. He helps me up the stairs and even carries me at some point till we finally make it to the female hall.
"Next time, when you want to fall out of a window, can you give a head up so unsuspecting passersbys won't be forced to carry you," he says as he sets me on the ground before the female hall's door.
"Excuse you! I didn't force you to help me, did I!? " I question in annoyance.
"You know you're my responsibility. I had no choice," he replies with a smirk.
I simply pout my lips in anger and stare at him. He deserves a Grammy award. World's biggest bag of annoyance!!
"Don't pout so much. You might just end up having saged lips," he remarks.
"You..! " I make to speak.
"I know, I'm a hunk. " he completes running his fingers through his hair.
My jaw drops in disbelief at this boy's guts!
"See you tomorrow... Mate" he says to me with a wink. I turn around in anger and limp into the female hall. I take one last look at his face before walking in and I find a huge smile on his face. I scoff and shut the door.
And I thought my brothers were the most annoying boys I knew!!
