Chapter 37

Amara's POV

Currently I was watching the Chile vs United States from the side lane as I was playing today due to me playing yesterday. "Do you think we're going to win" Alex questioned me as she was also on bench along with Pinoe. "Yeah I think we got this" I said confidently as I had faith in my girls to pull of a win. Through the whole game we just kept watching and commenting on stuff that needed to be improved.

When the game did finish we won 3-0 thanks to Carli and Ertz. Walking on the pitch I went to shake hands with everyone even though I didn't play as it showed good sportsmanship. After all the stuff needing to be done was finished we then headed back to the bus to go to our hotel and rest.

The next couple of days were just practicing as we had a respectfully more challenging team to play against. So when the day did come that we played against Sweden I was prepared to give my best on the field. "You ready for this sweetheart" Ali questioned me as she saw that I was fidgeting with my finger a lot. "Yeah I'm fine I just never get use to the feeling of playing in the World Cup even after playing in the past 2" with my response she went and gave me a side hug "Hey if your nervous about not scoring because I have heard the rumors of you scoring at least once in every game don't let that get to your head because your amazing no matter what especially of all that you have accomplished at your age"

It's true what she was saying as lately there has been talk in the media world of how I've scored at least once in every game and if I don't continue to do so what does that say about me. "I'm good it's just pregame jitters" I said giving her a convincing smiling. Walking on the pitch we went to shake hands as usual with Sweden team after that we then went to huddle and give ourselves a pep talk. Finishing that up we did are pre World Cup ritual of doing are usa chants.

Getting in my position I then went into game mode and blocked out the crowds. The thing about the WC is my nerves usually went away after someone scored the first goal from my team. Thankfully Lindsey did just that at the 3 minute marked she scored. Rushing over to her I gave her a congratulation hug then we reseted the game. For this game Alex wasn't starting which for me was unusual as it was usually Alex, Pinoe, and I for the starting lineup but for this game she was replaced with Carli which I didn't mind I was just not use to playing with her.

Resetting the game nobody else scored so we went into half time where I was approached by coach "Amara your being subbed out at the 48th minute for Tobin" knowing I had no place to argue I nodded a yes. Sitting down all I could think about was that I had to score in these last 3 minutes that I was playing or I would receive a lot of comments on not scoring. "Hey don't stress you still have 3 minutes to score anything can happen" Alex told me but I could tell she was also nervous at this as it was unusual that I don't score. Getting back to the field I got one more drink of water before I made my way on to the pitch.

"3 minutes come on Amara you got this" I whispered to myself for a confidence boost. Then next thing I knew the whistle blew and off I went 

Commentators

"Yes it has been from Alex Morgan not starting for the USA to Amara Ludwig Eréndira not scoring for the first time as we can see Tobin Heath warming up on the side line getting ready to sub for her"

"Honestly there's this big rumor that if she doesn't score in every game that she not as good as people claim but I believe this is completely false as she has always proven why she is one of the best especially for her young age"

"Omg I scored" I shrieked as I jumped up and down hugging Alex "I know I'm so proud of you" we did are mini celebration on the side line. Watching the game not even 3 minutes in Tobin scored which was considered a own goal but we were still proud of her. Finishing up the game we all went to the field to shake hands as usual and thankfully this time I didn't have to do a press conference. "Let's head to the locker room girls" following the team I went to go shower and change as I was sweaty.

Heading to the bus after finishing that all up I was going through my phone as I was  receiving congratulations for winning and good luck for my next game which was Spain. One stood out though Neymar's
