Chapter 34

Amara's POV

The next day was spent accepting congratulation from everyone and making sure everything was packed for New York today and France for the next month. Even though I did have clothes in Spain which wasn't that far from France I thought it was best to take more as I didn't know if I was going to return to Barcelona since my contract is done. Not wanting to think about that I focused on checking my luggage as they were being loaded up by George and Jimmy into his car since they were dropping me off at the airport. Unfortunately Claire couldn't make it but that was fine we said goodbye over face time "Okay everything's loaded up" George told me "You ready" Jimmy asked me. Shaking my head yes as I just needed to get my purse we then made are way into his car and to the airport to meet with the rest of the team and since Iris was staying with parents I didn't need to worry about her.

"I wish you guys could go to New York and France with me" I told them with a sad voice "We wanted that too but unfortunately we can't miss anymore practices since the season is about to start up, but we will try to make at least one of your France games" nodding in appreciation. "Can we stop for Starbucks"  joining George in his question we both gave Jimmy puppy faces "Fine but don't order the whole menu this time" funny story last time we went to Starbucks George and I ordered the whole menu to rate the drinks from best to worst obviously we found it entertaining but Jimmy did not as after drinking all of the drinks we had a stomach ache. Pulling up to the window Jimmy order "Hi can I please get a venti sweet cream cold brew, a venti iced white chocolate mocha, a venti iced oat milk honey latte , and a chocolate croissant" after are order and getting are drinks plus my chocolate croissant we then proceeded to the airport.

Getting to the airport I could see some of the girls already there so making my way out of the car in a hurry to not be late. Grabbing a cart to put all my luggage on I was about to leave until someone pulled me back "Wow your that much in a rush that you almost forgot to give us a hug" realizing my mistake I hugged George quickly then went to hug Jimmy this time taking my time "I'm going to miss you but you promise to try and win it all for us" hugging him tightly I replied "I'm going to miss you too and I'll try to win it just for you" give no them one last wave I made my way to check in and once finishing that I made my way over to our plane terminal.

For the rest of the time period until we got on the plane the girls and I just talked "So how's the whole Neymar and you situation" Pinoe asked me "It's alright we're on good terms now even talking as friends" giving each other unsure looks Alex continued for her "and how does he feel about Jimmy" understanding what they were getting at I denied it "We already discussed it and he understands Jimmy and I are just friends" getting nods from them we then made are way onto the plane. I chose to sit next to Alex on the plane as she was the calmest compared to all the girls that "Are you excited for media day tomorrow" she asked me "Yeah but I'm also excited for time square tonight" the rest of the plane ride consisted of talks like this or talks about futbol. Arriving in New York you could practically feel the energy change as we made are way to our hotel and once we did get there we settled in and made sure everything and everyone was accounted for.

We were heading to Times Square in a little so I decided now would be a good time to change out of my my plane clothes. So putting on something a little bit more presentable I made my way to the bathroom to put some quick makeup on also. Once finishing up I made my way to the outside of the hotel as that's where we were meeting up for the buses to transport us. When the buses came we all loaded up and were on our way to Time Square where we were being celebrated. The rest of the night we spent laughing and taking pictures with some of are supporters and fans

The next morning we spent it at multiple multi media places like Twitter and Good Morning America. There was a lot of interviews and pictures we had to take as a matter of a fact I was in a interview right now "So Amara what's it like going to your 3rd World Cup after being a consecutive winner for the past 2 and never losing one" to be honest I don't even have an answer for it "Well with my good experience with the last 2 World Cups I honestly hope that I could bring home another win and make it 3 World Cup wins but if not just the experience itself is fun and I know there's a lot of pressure on me to win a 3rd in a row but I'm just a human so whatever happens we gave it our all" with me quoting that I want a 3rd World Cup win the next question was based off it "'Amara if you win this World Cup you will then match soccer legend Pele's record for most World Cups won and just by the age of 23 how does that make you feel" thinking of my next words as I had to be careful on the wording "Well honestly if I was able to match his record it would be an incredible honor and in my opinion would also bring some spotlight to women's futbol in a good way as it's basically saying look we're here to stay and do your jobs hell maybe will even do them better" I already knew I would get a lot of backlash for that answer but for me that was alright.

The rest of the interviews were all near the same as they were all focused on getting answers from us about the World Cup and how we feel on it. I've honestly never been happier to be wearing sweats as the team was matching in their USWNT sweatpants outfit which kept us comfortable through the whole thing. Finishing up the majority of are interviews some of us headed on back to the hotel. I had to stay back with a couple girls like the captains Pinoe, Alex, and Carli also Tobin,Press,Lavelle, Dunn, and a few more. After another two hours it was getting late so the rest of us headed back to the hotel we're we ate custom prepped food and then some went to sleep as we were heading to France late tonight due to the time difference and time of the flight.

I chose not to fall asleep now and just sleep on the plane. So getting my stuff ready I made my way downstairs as the clock struck 12. Getting to the airport it took a while to get everything checked and loaded but once it did we were off into the sky with me of course holding someone's hand in this case Lavelle's. Once getting the clear to take off seatbelts everyone was out of theirs and fast asleep. Dreaming the whole plane ride of the World Cup.
