My fingers ferociously worked on my laptop keyboard as I was reverting to my work emails.
"Nikhil, stop it." I heard my wife who was reading a thriller novel sitting on the same cozy bed kept on my favourite spot but she was sitting in the opposite direction.
"What should I stop, angry bird?" I asked while my eyes lingered on the laptop.
"The sound of the keyboard is irritating me. I am not able to concentrate," she whined. I didn't want her to be disturbed but replying to those emails was important as hell to me.
"Anvi, just five more mails, please."
"Aghhh, No, not even one." I looked over at her from my laptop and said, "Please, don't be mad at me. Give me a few more minutes."
"I am leaving," she was about to leave, leaving me alone which was the last thing I wanted.
"No, you can't," I put my legs on her abstaining her from moving.
"You are unbelievable," she said, closing her book loudly.
"I know."
"How many more to go?" she asked about the mails when I was taking more than the expected time.
"Just three more mails."
"Nikhillllll." Anvi slurred my name and was wiggling trying to free her legs but I was adamant. I had to spend time with her and only I was the one who was putting in the efforts. I was ready to even put in more if required and that's what I was doing.
"Wifey, just one more, please."
After I clicked the send button I felt triumphant and said, "Done." Anvi was sulking at her spot and was looking out of the window. She looked angry just like the red angry bird. I didn't regret giving her the nickname angry bird as in a day I had seen Anvi converting into the same more than once.
I sat beside her and nudged her hand with my elbow before asking, "Are you angry at me?"
"No, why would I be?" she didn't even look at me.
"Talk to me then."
"I am not in the mood, Nikhil"
I poked my index finger in the right cheek of hers and said, "Please don't be upset."
