ZAREENA

She didn't wake up to the beep sound of her alarm but to a horn of a car.

'Who can't get down from the damn horn?'

Zareena cursed whoever invented the horn and looked out from her window with groggily eyes.

'Shoot!' she cussed when she saw James looking at her window.

It was Sunday! She was to go to James home today and she forgot! Zareena ran to the washroom, took a shower in the least possible time, and struggled to get into her jeans as she had worn her sneakers first. She didn't had time to blow-dry her hair so she just combed it down. Not that it mattered. It would turn into his usual messy form anyway. She flew down the stairs to the door, took a deep breath, put on an expressionless face and opened the door to see James standing there grinning like the maniac he was.

'Took you long enough.'

'You're early.' She shrugged and went pass him.

'Where are you going?' He asked keeping up her pace.

'To die! Where do you think I'm going?'

'We are going by my car.'

She tensed and stopped mid-stride.

'No cars.' She looked at James suddenly pale.

'Why?' he asked. 'It's a long way and I'm not walking when I have a car!'

'Please Conner' She pleaded, looking down. 'No cars. I haven't been in a car since....it happened.'

James looked at her with sympathetic eyes and she hated it! She hated being pitied by others. but she had no choice. Since the accident, she hadn't gone in a car. She was still afraid and James sitting beside her driving the car was too much of a resemblance of that night even though it was broad daylight and there was no lakes nearby, but she was still chicken to get a grip on it.

'Then.' He sighed. 'We have to hoof it.'

They walked side-by-side. Within the week their bond improved to something astounding for people who have opposite likings -even though it wasn't something new to her- He even asked if he could introduce her to his friends but, she declined him saying that they were his friends and she doesn't want to force someone to be her friend. She was fed-up of fake friendships.

They reached what she figured as James's house and by all means, was the most beautiful house she had ever seen. It wasn't all glass-walls and chandeliers like Zareena's was, it was a real home with two stories with sweet, baby blue walls and a garden full of flowers of every kind. Roses, Lavender, Lilies, Carnation, Daisies, Orchids.... it even had a white fence! So homey.

When they were at the door, she heard voices from inside. Girls talking, boys laughing. She gave him a confused look.

'Some of my friends from the swimming club comes here on Sundays.' He explained but, when he saw her expression he kept a reassuring hand on her shoulder. 'Don't worry. I'll bet they'll love you.'

Like that was her biggest concern.

'Why can't he realize I hate crowds?!' she wanted to scream.

Without any options, she nodded and told him to go inside first.

The moment he opened the door, he was tackled by a mob of curly, strawberry blond hair.

'James!!' The girl squeaked. 'Where have you been? Your sister is killing us!'

James laughed and moved aside so, Zareena could come in.

'I went to bring a friend of mine.'
