Chapter 10: Hidden Feelings

Chapter Summary: They were free to do their own thing even their feelings were hidden.

"What are you doing?" She asked her mute friend that night in the court.

Kanata didn't hear her but he felt her leaning over him. He was sitting behind the net and she was behind it. But he wasn't playing tennis. Kanata was listening to music earning a slight frown from the girl. He gestured her to come to his side which she followed. Sakuno walked around the net and sat beside him. He gave the other piece of his ear plug and put to her ear.

Sakuno listened to the music for a short while.

'This was an accident
Not the kind where sirens sound
Never even noticed
We're suddenly crumbling
…'

"It's… English." She muttered as she looked at him.

Kanata nodded at her and smiled at the same time.

"Y-you can understand English, can't you?" She asked him which he nodded, "S-sugoi, Kanata-kun. I am not really good at the language;" She listened to the song once again, "This song is nice to hear."

She didn't realize Kanata's movements until he showed his digital writing board to her and read it;

'I can teach you how to speak English.'

"R-really?"

He nodded before he wrote something to his board once again, 'It's easy. I'll teach you the basic. I can also give you a copy of this song.'

"Arigatou Kanata-kun," She smiled at him when he offered her that, "You really saved me from my problems."

Kanata smiled back at her and resumed from listening to the song. Sakuno did the same as they both relaxed. They didn't play that night as they usually did when they met each other. She told him what happened to the play but she didn't tell him the last scene.

She decided to keep it to herself and to those people who were present during the play.

Aside from that, she was proud to tell him that the play was successful.

"I hope you can come with us. You know for the victory party or the play."

Kanata shook his head before he wrote something to the board, 'You know I don't talk to other people and it's alright, it's your party for a job well done.'

"I want you to be there," She said looking hopeful at him, "Tomo-chan will be there."

'We can celebrate for ourselves here afterwards. Bring Tomoka-san here if you like.'

"I cannot convince you, can I?" She looked at him and sighed when he shook, "Alright. We will have our own celebration here with Tomo-chan then."

'Deal.'

They remained quiet after that. They listened to the other music which was English and Kanata translated the meaning of the songs. They did that all night and it was so nice to do something different. She was glad to meet someone like him.
