Saturday rolled around and since Avani had to leave my house early for a shoot, I was up early. Me being me, I decided to go to the back of the backyard where we had a batting cage placed in.

Softball was the one sport I took seriously, and when my season was cancelled because of covid, that didn't really stop me.

I was back here all the time, just swinging away.

After a solid 30 minutes of hitting, my dad came outside and entered the cage with me, "You know, you're starting to get into a habit of not finishing off your swing."

My dad was and still is extremely interested in sports. He taught me and my siblings every sport possible growing up, but in the end, me and Carter were the only ones that stuck to them.

I frowned, "I am?"

He nodded and brought the hitting tee over, placing a ball on it, "Swing again, but this time make sure you have a strong finish."

I took his advice and swing hard, making sure that my ending position was just as aggressive as my starting.

"Much better," my dad nodded approvingly, "So, what's been going on recently? I mean, I'm at work so much now that I feel like I never see you guys."

"Nothing much," I said honestly, "You just missed Avani, she left early this morning."

My dad laughed, "That girl has always been such an energetic teenager, I miss hearing you guys being obnoxiously loud." He teased.

I laughed at his comment, placing another ball onto the tee. He spoke again, "So, what's going on with you and Blake?"

I hit the ball super hard, an unknown rush powering me, "Uh, what do you mean? There's nothing going on with us, we're just friends."

My dad narrowed his eyes at me, a curious look on his face, "As your father, I can tell when my daughter has a crush on someone. Your mother and I have been noticing it."

I felt my cheeks heating drastically as I swung the bat again, "I don't like him, trust me."

He had a teasing smile on his face, "So all of those comments he always leaves on your Instagram don't mean anything?"

At this point, I probably looked like a tomato from all of my dads teasing. He was acting like he was my brother right now with all of this teasing.

"It's nothing," I said for the final time, sticking my tongue out at him, "Blake wouldn't be Blake if he didn't leave all of those comments."

My dad put his hands up in surrender, beginning to walk away and head towards the house, "Well, either way, I approve!"

Oh god.

I can't with my dad.
