4 The Promise

Part 4 The promise

Shashi's sacrifice made Avinash guilty. He was sitting in front of Shashi's lifeless body with teary eyes. Could he ever get such a loyal employee? Leave the employee stuff... what a man he is...? He couldn't stand crying Garima who already fainted three times, crying. He became angry when Arvind and Ratna came to the funeral without Subhadra and Arnav.

"Where are Shuba and Chotte?" he asked gritting his teeth.

"She is not interested to come here... and she refused to send Chotte," Arvind said in a gauzy tone.

"Leave her. But, I will never step into RM if Chotte doesn't come here."

"Dad..."

"That's final..."

Arvind left the place to bring Arnav. He said to Subhadra, what Avinash told him. Without any choice left, Subhadra sent Arnav with Arvind, scolding Avinash.

Arnav came to GH and searched for Chutki. He saw her crying, standing beside Shashi's lifeless body. A trace of tears ran all over her face. And then he looked at his grandfather. Avinash nodded his head in a calling manner. Arnav came to him.

"Go and console Chutki." He said.

Arvind spared a glance at Ratna who is also looked cool.

Arnav went near Chutki and stood beside her. He felt pity, seeing her tears filled face.

"Don't cry..." He said slowly as he didn't know what else to say.

"Everyone is saying that my Babuji won't come back ever..." She sniffed.

Arnav gulped. He is not that small not to understand her state.

"I and my Dadu will be with you... don't cry." He said without thinking anything.

But his words are not enough to stop her cry. After all, there is no replacement for a father, in this world.

Garima fainted again when Shashi's body was taken to the graveyard. Khushi cried like hell and her throat got infected shouting. Ratna sprinkled water on Garima's face and fed water. Garima cried hugging her knees.

"Amma, don't cry..." She cried.

Ratna tried to console her hugging her. Arnav was gazing at them sadly.

Avinash didn't enter their room and stayed in the guest room which made Subhadra furious.

"Do you think of insulting me?"

"Insulting....? It's you who insulted me... Shashi gave his life to save me... you refused to attend his funeral. Is this what your respect for me? I feel it would have better if I had died than Shashi."

"Stop talking rubbish..." she gritted her teeth.

"No Subhadra... today I got to know my value... this is the limits. I won't disturb you anymore... you too don't interfere with my decisions."

He pushed Subhadra out of the guest room and closed the door.

The Next day

Subhadra saw all of them were getting ready.

"Where are you going, Ratna?"

"Babuji is taking us to Shashi Bhai's house, Maji."

"I don't know what to say... why the hell this man is doing such things, forgetting his status... This is why I didn't want to marry a non-royal man." She repented for the thing which she did before forty-five years.
