Dead end after dead end,
Frustration after frustration,
This is the fate of a spiritually blinded heart,
Cycle after fruitless cycle,
He returns to the very place he begun,
And sets out on the same fruitless pursuit,
Applying the very same methods,
To the same fruitless end,
In each cycle the mirage appears more real,
The success more eminent,
And the happy end more apparent,
His hopes dim out after many a failure,
And the heart is forced to choose, between humility and pride,
The heart that chooses humility,
Discovers a profound truth,
That no man is a light unto himself,
And that Jesus is the light of all men,
The heart that chooses pride,
Continues in her blindness,
Until she hits rock-bottom,
And there in the place of humility,
She can find the path taken by those,
Who chose humility before her.
*Proverbs 4:18-19: The road the righteous travel is like the sunrise, getting brighter and brighter until daylight has come. The road of the wicked however is dark as night, they fall but cannot see what they have stumbled over*
