she comes home to find you asleep

"Y/n? I'm home, baby!" She called out to wherever you were at as she slid off her shoes and shrugged off her jacket.

She was hoping to hear your feet on the stairs at any given second, hoping to see your bright smile and be pulled into your arms. Because the day hadn't exactly been great. She'd stumbled over a few things in the studio, finding today to be a harder day than most have been lately.

But the house remained silent. She didn't hear you call out for her or hear you rushing down the hall and down the stairs. It was quiet; much too quiet for her liking.

The lights in the living area were dimmed, but she quickly turned them off after grabbing a bottle of water before heading up the stairs. She called out for you again, thinking you were probably just watching a movie and relaxing in bed.

After all, this is your first of your few days off. She knows there are shows you've been waiting to binge-watch and that's where her mind instantly went.

She reached the doorway, your name on her lips again. But she froze when she saw you fast asleep in bed.

The blanket was over one leg while your other leg was comfortably sticking out. She smiled to herself; you certainly looked comfortable and she knows well that you need that sleep you've been lacking from your own busy career.

She walked to you and knelt in front of you. She noticed you were shivering slightly and she didn't want to risk waking you by trying to get your leg under the blanket. So she grabbed hers instead and draped it to your shoulder.

"You're so cute," she whispered before planting a lingering kiss on your forehead.

She just planned on going to start her nightly routine; taking off her makeup and brushing her teeth before changing into her cozy pajama bottoms before she crawled in beside you to join you in a peaceful slumber.

It wasn't her intention to wake you.

But when she turned around and felt your fingers gently wrap around her wrist and she turned to find your eyes open, looking tired but holding a loving gaze, she felt bad.

"Baby, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to wake you."

"It's okay. I didn't mean to fall asleep."

She chuckled and shook her head while beginning to brush her fingers through your hair. "It's alright. You've had a lot on your plate lately, it's okay to fall asleep early when you're so tired."

"Yeah but sleeping without you isn't fun. Come lay with me."

"I will in only a moment."

You frowned but soon smiled when she kissed your temple. Your eyes closed at the brush of her lips, so you didn't see the kiss on your lips coming; but you weren't complaining, either.

"I'll be back in a minute."

You let go of her wrist and nodded, watching her walk away. You closed your eyes once again, feeling that they were just too heavy to keep open any longer.

Miley was quicker than usual with her nightly routine, finding that she was too excited to finally hold you back in her arms again and even catch up on some sleep, herself.

She rinsed out her mouth after brushing her teeth and then quickly changed into her pajamas. She opened the door and saw you asleep once again, the sight causing her chest to fill with butterflies.

She turned off the light and tiptoed to bed. She climbed in and reached for the blanket, but remembered that she had thrown it over you. She just shrugged and put her arms around you. Her legs intertwined and she closed her eyes.

But they opened only a few seconds later when she felt the fabric of her blanket tickle her thigh before it was over her completely.

"Don't want you to get cold." You mumbled.

"I don't want that for you, either, baby."

"I won't be." You assured. "You're holding onto me. I'll be just fine."

She kissed your head lingeringly before laying her cheek on your shoulder.

"Goodnight, y/n. Sleep well."

"You too, Miley. Sweet dreams." You said before falling back asleep.
