your daughter gets her first period (requested)

It'd been a quiet day. With your daughter at school after a busy weekend and a day off for the both of you, Miley had turned on a cozy movie for you both to watch and relax to. But it only became background noise in the middle of your stolen kisses and soon you had both fallen asleep on the sofa.

Time had flown by fast since you fell asleep and soon enough you awoke to the front door opening and slamming shut. You both sat up suddenly and saw your daughter shrugging off her jacket and shoes with what looked like tear stains on her cheeks.

"Aria?"

Miley called out as you both sat up. Your daughter didn't dare look over at you, she just ran up the stairs instead. You both exchanged a worried look before rushing up the stairs behind her. You caught up just in time for Miley to put her foot in the doorway so she couldn't slam her bedroom door and lock you both out.

"Aria? What is it? Did something happen?" You asked worriedly and tried to reach in to touch her shoulder. She sniffled and your heart shattered at the thought of your daughter crying.

"Tell us what it is. We're worried." Miley spoke, voice soft and comforting.

"I-I," she started as she turned to look at you both. She opened the door and bit her lip. "I got my first period. I don't know when. No one told me until I was on the bus ride home today. Some kids pointed it out and I felt... weird."

"Don't feel weird." You squeezed her shoulder. "It happens. You're thirteen, it was bound to happen. Don't let anyone make you feel bad about this. It's completely normal."

"Come with me, sweetie. I think I've got something that'll help."

Aria walked out, following Miley down the hall to your room and into the bathroom. Miley came out a minute later and joined you where you sat on the carpeted floor, against the wall.

"Can you believe it? She actually started her period. She's growing up!"

Miley chuckled and put her head on your shoulder.

"Soon she'll be getting into relationships and going off to college, if she chooses to, of course. It's all happening so fast. I knew this was bound to happen someday soon but... I didn't think it'd be today."

"No one ever does," Miley mumbled. "But those things will come in time. For now, I think our girl needs some love and support. Maybe some snacks, something to cheer her up. What's the cure?"

You both stared at each other and said, "Ice cream!"

Just then, your daughter walked out of your room. She stood awkwardly, trying to think of what to say.

"Thanks, mom."

"You're welcome, honey."

She walked to the both of you, hugging you both tightly.

"Well, we're gonna need to go do a little shopping to get you some things you'll need. How about while we're at it we get some ice cream or something too?"

Her eyes lit up and she nodded excitedly.

"Well then, go get changed and ready to go!" Miley spoke excitedly and you both watched her run into her room and get ready and you both shared a giggle and a kiss before walking down the stairs hand in hand to get yourselves ready for the exciting evening ahead.
