Harry

"Har! One of the guards gave me this, it's a letter for you." Max announces after suddenly coming from wherever he's been all day. My peace and quiet had come to an end as soon as he steps in. I mentally groan as I sit up from my position looking at what he was blabbering about seeing it was a white envelope that he placed on the desk.

It's been a day since I'd seen the Detectives and Aurora and still no update on the settlement for my release so I figured I'd spend the free afternoon without Max in the cell catching up on some of the books I had been reading. I figured I should lay low since the library incident given Sebastian still had men out for me and there wasn't much to do aside from reading.

Noting the page I left off on I throw the library copy of the Catcher in the Rye at the edge of the bed as I jump down to see where Max left the letter. I opened it up and saw that it was a state-mandated letter. Reading through it said that I'll be able to leave prison this Thursday, stamped and signed by the governor.

"What's it say? They give you more time in here." I hear him laugh behind me and in return, I sarcastically laugh at him before throwing the rest of the paper at him. Allowing him to see for himself. He opens it up and scans it quickly.

"Well, aren't you nosy? Actually, I'll be getting out this Thursday according to the governor. The Detectives I'm working with, Charli and Marvin insisted on getting me out so I guess they had to pull some strings." His eyes widened with shock upon hearing the names I mentioned.

"Wait, your working with Charli and Marvin? Those fools actually decided to do something about it. Ha!" Laughing to himself he goes under his bunk going through a folder of his things before pulling out an old newspaper and hanging it to me.

"I'm a journalist, I used to write columns for the New York Times before I got sent here for punching a cop at a crime scene. I used to be around the department a lot trying to get first dibs on the latest stories, that's when I met Charli and Marvin." I look more at the newspaper as my eyes wandered at the column that had his name on it. Reading it briefly I realized why his name sounded familiar.

"You wrote 730 days in Baghdad, that William Sister's reportage was way better, you should stick to columns." I hand him back the newspaper and he sulks at the insult I gave him.

"Anyways it's good that you're working with them they're good people. Before I was in here they didn't even want to touch anything about the case. They were too scared. I'm proud of them for taking it on." I nod hearing Max's words as I gained another perspective on Charli and Marvin. I heard that people in their office judged them harshly once they found out they were trying to crack down on Sebastian's schemes Downtown. Everyone called it a lost cause, even I did once they first approached me about it. The only reason I even heard them out was because I knew they were desperate, I mean siding with an East-side gang leader desperate. But, I admired their courage and I knew they wanted this city back to the way it was before all of this.

"Ah once I get out this Friday I have to be sure to go over to see them, I wanna help them out as much as I can, You know we all kinda go way bac-

"Damn! Is it because of your old age that you talk so much? I'm going on a walk, later." Cutting Max off I hear him whisper something under his breath making me laugh a little as I left the cell. I didn't want to go anywhere specific just wanted to sort out everything in my head. A lot has happened and I wasn't thinking straight about what I was going to do next. I even risked sending the girl out to meet Leo because of all this mess. Which was a very dumb and impulsive move on my part.

Putting her life at risk when she doesn't have anything to do with this is just wrong. I just hoped everything went fine.

"H! You have a call on hold coming from line two." Walking around the bases I hear a guard call me for what feels like the 5th time today talking about the telephones. I let out an annoyed sigh before turning around to follow him to the phone lines.
