9 Years Later
No ones Point of View
A 16 year old Olivia walks in through the front door with her backpack on her left shoulder and looks throughout the entrance of the house."Mom? Dad?" She yells out as she checks to see if anyone is home.
"Dad went out to the store. Mom is...I don't know actually." Benjamin yells to her as he gets food from the cabinet.
"Predictable." She shrugs and throws the backpack on the floor.
"Why did Dad leave you here alone? You're ten and I'm not sure if I would trust you being alone." She questions.
"Excuse me, I'm over halfway to being an adult." Benjamin defends.
"Dude, let's get serious."
"Dad said you would be home soon so I could stay here by myself until you came home. Mom said it was okay."
"There's no way he asked Mom."
"Why not?"
"Because he has no idea where she is either."
"But he said-"
"I don't know, you don't know, neither of us do. We haven't seen her in days, Benji."
"You know I hate that name." Benjamin says with a pouty face.
"Okay...Benji"
"UGH." He exclaims.
"Did Dad take Juliet with him?"
"Mhm." Benjamin gets out a chair to try and get a box of crackers from the top shelf.
"Let me do that for you so you don't kill yourself." Olivia walks in and gets the box of crackers for him.
"Thank you. You usually come home with a friend after school. Where is your friend?" He asks.
"He's on his way. He had to stay back at school for a bit." She lies.
"Why are all your friends boys? I thought girls were friends with girls."
"I wouldn't call my friends, friends...more like....you know what, they're friends. Yeah they're friends that just spend a lot of time in my bedroom."
"Me and my friends like to play in the backyard."
"Good for you..." Olivia rubs the top of Benjamin's head before heading upstairs.
"I thought you were supposed to watch me." Benjamin looks up as Olivia runs up the stairs.
"Uh, you know the routine. Just play video games or something until Dad comes home."
"But I don't wanna play video games."
"Figure it out for yourself and just don't be stupid." Olivia runs to her room and closes the door quickly before locking it.
A boy lays down on Olivia's bed with no top on. "Your parents here?" He asks Olivia.
"Nope. If my mom is home then she is probably in some other house across the globe."
"Sounds cool being Taylor Swift's daughter."
"It has its perks but it mostly just sucks. Now come on, let's get a move on."
"Before we get a move on, can I ask you something?"
"Sure but make it quick."
"Does it bother you that everyone at school calls you a slut? If it does I can go around punching people you know."
Olivia giggles for a moment before answering the boy's question. "No, because it's accurate. Can't complain if it's accurate."
"I don't think it's as accurate as you think."
"I had sex last week with a different guy. Now for real, I'm getting impatient."
"Whatever you say...Miss Swift."
The two young lovers kiss but they weren't much of lovers. More than anything they were two people trying to escape the pain and loneliness in their life that makes them feel numb.
Call Olivia a slut, call her stupid, call her the one that chases the shadows of others, but how can you blame her? She has no one. No decent role model. All she was taught was to live off of what her dad provided her. While her mother is god knows where, it takes her fathers doing to try and keep the family together, which he tries, but it takes more than one person to try and keep a household functioning properly. All Olivia knows is that it makes her feel more loved and safe. It gives her a sense of being. She knows there can be consequences, but she doesn't care too much what happens to her because she hasn't made much of a life. Much of a personality or feeling like a person. She knows herself as the school slut. Which she doesn't mind.
