Months went by.
The common people and the Lords were finally getting along, while at court a bitter air filled the halls.
Cersei had made sure not to be alone with Viserys anymore, even if this involved countless questions from Rhaegar who was unaware of his brother's true nature.
Every day, accompanied by the guards, Cersei went to see if Daenerys was fine since, after meeting Viserys, she feared that the little girl could be mistreated or killed.
The thought of losing anyone she cared about, or having to be beaten up again made her nights filled with nightmares; just like what she was having now.
She was sitting on the Throne, holding a child in her arms.
Outside the walls could be heard screams and cries that only a war could bring, a war of Fire and Blood.
Unlike what Cersei was, the baby seemed calm and peaceful in the face of that reality and was sleeping blissfully as if none of that was true.
Just as she feared, her end was coming and it wasn't hard to understand.
The noise of men trying to break through the door was getting louder, and at times it seemed to her that whoever was trying to open it was a dragon.
She didn't know how this was possible, she had never seen a dragon, much less knew its roar.
She knew only stories about these huge wild animals, and she was as fascinated as she was terrified of them.
'Boom'
'Boom'
'Boom'
With each stroke the door creaked more and more, until the cracks created expanded and the door fell to the ground.
Cersei woke up, sweating and breathing hard.
Rhaegar, who was not sleeping as well, immediately noticed it and hugged her.
"Love, what's the matter?"
"Nothing ... Just another one of my stupid nightmares."
"You've been having a lot of them lately, is there something troubling you?"
Cersei looked at him, it had been a long time since Viserys had shown her his madness and probably Rhaegar had already forgotten about that day; but perhaps it was time to tell him the truth.
" Rhaegar, do you remember the day of your coronation?"
“How could I forget such a day? I was very agitated, but luckily you were there to ruffle my hair and Jaime to make sure my dress was beautiful. "
"Yes, you looked very good dressed like that."
"Thanks. Modestly I'm handsome with everything."
"You are such a funny guy."
Cersei said sarcastically.
"Come on, go on ... What's troubling you?"
"There is one thing I didn't tell you about that day, and I don't know if it's better to tell it or not."
"By now you have said that there is something you have to tell me, so speak up. I'm sure it can be resolved."
" I ..."
" You…?"
Cersei leaned with her back against the headboard of the bed, one hand on her belly and the other clinging to the sheets.
"I think the baby is coming."
She said agitated, but at the same time with a smile of happiness on her face.
Maybe that was a sign. She shouldn't have said a word about the meeting between her and Viserys.
Rhaegar helped her get comfortable, and he began to get very agitated.
He looked stupid as he walked around the room thinking about what to do.
"Ok then, what was I supposed to do? Notify the guards? No, maybe it was going to call the midwives. For the Seven Gods, I don't remember anything! "
"Rhaegar, calm down ... You are more agitated than me!"
Cersei said laughing.
“… I'm sorry, I should help you. Instead I just mess around. I am useless. "
“Don't be silly. Now go tell someone, okay? I'm sure everything will be fine. "
"Thanks for your trust."
Rhaegar left the room for a moment and returned with the maids and midwives who seemed more interested in admiring his beauty than in helping the Queen.
“Are you sure you want to stay here, Your Grace? It won't be a good view. "
“I attended my mother in both births, I already know what this implies; besides, I see no reason not to stay next to my wife in such an important moment for both of us. "
The girl who asked the question blushed, as if she thought she might be his bride.
Cersei did not like that at all, Rhaegar was a beautiful boy but he was her husband, it was her that he had to love.
"It would be nice if instead of talking you would help me."
She said nervously.
"Sure love, sorry."
When Rhaegar went to her side, and put his arm around her waist while holding her hand, the maid seemed jealous.
‘Now she knows what it feels like.’ Cersei thought.
After a few hours a baby's cry echoed in the room.
"It's a boy, Your Grace!"
The midwife said wrapping the baby in a blanket.
Cersei was exhausted, but managed to reach out as a sign that she wanted to hold the baby.
The midwife handed him to her with a smile.
The baby, even if dirty, was really beautiful. The features were those of the Targaryens, apart from his eyes which were emerald green just like those of the Lannisters.
"He is our baby boy, our dragon and lion."
Cersei said through tears of joy, turning to Rhaegar who was looking at the baby leaning on her shoulder.
"You have been very good, my love."
That sentence meant nothing else that he was happy to still have her there with him.
Cersei's mother had died giving birth to Tyrion, and Rhaegar's mother had died giving birth to Daenerys.
Many women died giving birth, and the two very often found themselves talking about their fear that it could happen to her too.
"I'm sorry to interrupt, but I think it would be appropriate if the baby were cleaned and put in suitable clothes."
"No ... I want to keep him a little longer"
“You need to rest, Cersei. You will have plenty of time to be with him; now rest. Me and the maids will take care of him. "
Even though she knew the girls would try to seduce him, Rhaegar was right so she handed the baby to the midwife.
"Before I go and wash him, and tell to the guards to ring the bells ... Have you decided on a name?"
The two looked at each other and nodded.
"He will be Draco Targaryen."
