Chapter 5: Beauty Pageant

As River Rose came back to school on Tuesday, River Rose is ready to join the beauty pageant with Daisy and Daisy said, "I'm so happy that you're joining the pageant with me." River Rose said, "Me too." Daisy said, "Remember River, people are expecting talents that you have." River Rose said, "It's a surprise." Daisy said, "I can't wait to see it." River Rose said, "I know you will." Carter is joining River Rose for the talent and it will make him to have her. River Rose asked, "What's your talent, Daisy?" Daisy said, "It's a surprise." Jake said, "I bet you would tear up the stage." Daisy said, "Yeah." River Rose is feeling awkward on all of this and she wanted to be like other girls. Carter said, "I hope you girls kill it on stage." River Rose said, "Oh you dork." Carter playfully growls and said, "I seem to like that." Jake said, "Cool it, Mr. Dork." River Rose is happy that she's not around with Liam and all she ever wanted is to date a right guy. After school, River Rose and Daisy are finally wearing dresses. River Rose said, "I look so different." Daisy said, "You look so pretty with the dress and you look like a princess that boys can go gaga." River Rose said, "I try to be like other girls who are dating nice boyfriends and have kids." Daisy said, "You'll find a better guy and Liam has became a worse psycho guy than ever." River Rose said, "I heard that Hans is coming back." Daisy said, "I didn't know that." River Rose said, "Yeah and Hans is not liking his new school in Florida." Daisy said, "I didn't know that he hated the school." River Rose said, "Oh trust me, Hans is so mad at his teachers and he felt like it's not him." Daisy said, "Wow." River Rose said, "I know right." Daisy said, "I can't wait for you to find a right guy." River Rose said, "I hope so too and I want someone who's like Carter." Daisy said, "Carter's taken." River Rose said, "I know and I said someone who's like Carter." Daisy said, "That's a tough one and maybe you'll find one." Carter is standing by the dresses and he heard everything what Daisy said as he was angry at her. Daisy asked, "Are you and Byron talking to each other?" River Rose said, "Yeah and he's so attractive to me." Daisy said, "He's very attractive and he still loves you." River Rose said, "I miss him so much and I wanted him so bad." Daisy said, "I wish Marissa would just leave him." River Rose said, "He told me that he's going to leave her." Daisy said, "Yay." River Rose said, "I hate being just friends and I wanted him to protect me." Daisy said, "Don't worry, River and Byron really loves you a lot. I saw your post and he commented that he loves you so much." River Rose said, "I know and last night, I cry myself to sleep for wanting Byron with me." Daisy said, "Aww." River Rose said, "He's always been my everything and now, I have to stay with Liam." Daisy said, "You need to stay away from Liam and he will only hurt a new girl like you." River Rose said, "I know and I want Byron. I need him." Daisy said, "He'll be with you again soon." Lexi came over and asked, "Are you like joining the pageant?" River Rose said, "Yeah I am." Lexi said, "Yay." Sarah came over and said, "Wow River, I didn't know you look different." Daisy asked, "Are you trying to act all nice to her?" Sarah said, "Daisy, it's too bad that nobody wants to pick off your petals." Daisy said, "You're right and it's because you have them above your upper lip." Sarah gasp and she ran to the bathroom. River Rose said, "If she means about my weight, I look fine and happy." Lexi said, "Exactly and your outfits were so flashy and style." Daisy said, "Yeah and I want to be like you." River Rose said, "You know what Dolly would say -" The girls said, "It's hard to be a diamond in a rhinestone world." Lexi asked, "Where did you get that country accent from?" River Rose said, "My mom." Daisy said, "No way." Marissa came over and said, "Hey girlies." River Rose said, "Hey Marissa." Lexi asked, "Are you joining the pageant?" Marissa said, "I'm not joining the pageant and I did won the pageant last year." Daisy said, "That's right and I can't remembered what happen." Marissa said, "Some random chick like Nia Dewberry who stole the spray paint from Beauty Pageant Coach Hall and put it in my bag. So, I got disqualified from the pageant and I heard that she got knocked up by Trevor Michalchuk." Lexi said, "Nia Dewberry is one of the rich girls at Birdwell High in San Diego." Daisy asked, "Anyways, why are you guys here?" Byron said, "We're here to cheer you guys on and Carter, get over here." They looked at Carter and Daisy said, "You did not just stand there by hearing our conversations." Lexi said, "Oh God." River Rose said, "Great." Carter said, "I was just standing here and that's all." Byron said, "You can't do that, Carter and learn to wait for us." Carter said, "Okay fine." Byron said, "You look extremely hot and you are most definitely like a princess." River Rose started to blush and Marissa didn't have no words to say after Byron said some compliments to River Rose. River Rose said, "Thanks." Carter said, "Okay, we can go get a seat." Byron felt annoyed by Carter and said, "Okay." Marissa, Byron, and Carter walks out to go find a seat. Daisy said, "Carter needs to stop or else I'll break up with him." Lexi said, "You should leave him and he's acting crazy." River Rose said, "That's why he wants me and I know." Daisy said, "I knew he's after you and he can't play stupid with me here." River Rose said, "I know right." The announcer said, "As we proudly present to you all, the beauty pageant girls." River Rose, Daisy, and Lexi went with the other girls. Byron blowing a whistle at River Rose and River Rose blows a kiss at Byron. Byron pretends to catch it and he smiles at River Rose. The announcer asked, "Aren't these girls a real beauties?" Everybody clapped for them and they all walked off stage. Marissa asked, "Where did she get the glasses from?" Byron said, "River told me that she's near and far sided." Marissa said, "I'm afraid that one of the competitors will call her a nerd." Byron said, "I know her, Marissa and she's a tough fighter like I remembered." Beauty Pageant Coach said, "River Rose, the glasses has to go and you need to take them off." River Rose took off her glasses and Byron came to the backstage to see River Rose. River Rose feels worried as she sat down on a chair and Byron came over to River Rose. Byron sat down right next to River Rose and asked, "Is everything okay?" River Rose said, "I just feel like I can't wear my glasses at all and I feel so different without them." Byron said, "I think you are my beautiful princess without the glasses and I hope we're keeping this as a secret between us." River Rose said, "I just want my parents to support me once I have kids." Byron said, "We can start one again." River Rose said, "I can't sweetie and I'm still with Liam." Byron said, "Babe, Liam will hurt you and he's going to kill you." River Rose said, "I'm trying my best to leave him but he blocks the door every time that I try to leave." Byron said, "Liam doesn't have any right to block your way like that." River Rose said, "I'm tired of being hurt all the time and I really can't seem to fit in at all." Byron said, "Riv, you are and I love you so much." River Rose said, "I love you too so much." Byron kiss River Rose so much and Daisy and Lexi saw them kissing. Byron and River Rose quickly pulls away as they looked at Daisy and Lexi. Daisy said, "Oh my God." Lexi asked, "Are you guys still in love?" River Rose said, "We are and I don't want Liam." Daisy said, "I know but you guys have to be careful because someone will find out about this by taking a picture or record you guys kissing and send it to Liam and Marissa." Byron said, "I don't care and I love River so much. We were ready to have a family but her parents signed her up for abortion." Lexi is shocked and said, "Oh my God." Daisy is in shocked and said, "I'm so sorry." River Rose said, "It's fine to Carter but for me, it wasn't and I was waiting for a baby after I've been through with miscarriage." Lexi said, "Carter is not worth it for anyone to date and I hope he's somewhere in the corner probably smiling over about you and Byron's baby." Byron said, "That moron jerk isn't the type of guy who shouldn't be happy over this and this is our life of sadness that we both lost together." Daisy said, "I agree and I'm planning on leaving him for good. It's time for me to date Ethan." Lexi said, "Ooh. Ethan is probably checking you out since last week." Daisy said, "I know right and he's been texting me so much." River Rose said, "Byron, I really hope that we're going to be having a family again." Byron said, "We will, baby girl and it's going to be okay. I'm still here to protect you and I won't lose you." River Rose said, "You're the best, sweetie." River Rose kiss Byron so much and Byron couldn't let go of River Rose. The next day at Beauty Pageant, River Rose is excited for having Byron to sing with her and Byron kiss River Rose's cheek. Byron pulls away and said, "I always see a pretty girl to be with me." River Rose said, "I always knew that I was ready to be married in this dress." Byron said, "Oh yeah and I should've put on my suit for a special wedding." River said, "I rather be your wife and being a mom to our kids." Byron said, "I know you will and I made a promise to the supervisor to let me have my daughter back." River Rose asked, "Will you ever get her back?" Byron said, "I probably won't and she's in a foster care with her foster parents." River Rose said, "I really hope that you will get her back and I can't wait to see her." Byron said, "And you will." River Rose asked, "What's your daughter's name?" Byron said, "My ex Cynthia named her Brittney." River Rose said, "Aww." Byron said, "Yeah and I miss her everyday. I wasn't allowed to see her during Christmas and her birthdays." River Rose said, "Aww." Byron said, "It just give me a one hell of my life without her but now, I wish I can have her back." River Rose said, "Sweetie, I'm sure that she'll come around." Byron said, "I hope so and that's my daughter that she got taken away." River Rose said, "Babe, I will see your daughter if the supervisor come to my house." Byron said, "I'll see her again and we'll be a family like we always wanted." River Rose said, "Yup and we'll have kids again once I convince my parents." Byron said, "I guess this is who we are." River Rose said, "I wouldn't let the both of us to break up again once we get back together." Byron said, "That's all I ever wanted and Liam will leave you for sure." River Rose said, "I just want him to leave for good and I needed you." Byron said, "I needed you too." River Rose said, "Baby, I was thinking if you can take me to the restaurant for work." Byron said, "Of course baby girl." River Rose said, "Thanks sweetie." Byron kiss River Rose and quickly pulls away. Byron said, "You're welcome baby girl." River Rose said, "Just to make sure that we're getting back together." Byron said, "We will, baby girl and just be safe while you can." River Rose said, "I will baby." Byron grabs River Rose's left hand and he saw the bruise on River Rose's left arm. Byron asked, "What happened to your left arm?" River Rose said, "Babe, I can't handle for being with Liam and I can't." Byron said, "I know baby girl and we're going to get back together." River Rose said, "We'll try for a baby again and I'm so excited to be with you again." Byron said, "Me too baby girl and you will love my daughter if the supervisor brings her over to you." River Rose said, "You know me, Byron and I love babies." Byron said, "Marissa is acting weird after we got home and I think she's saying that I might be cheating on her for you." River Rose asked, "Are you?" Byron said, "Yeah a little but not all of it and I told her that we're just friends." River Rose said, "I know but I was the one for you not Marissa." Byron said, "I know and Carter should just leave us alone in the first place." Sarah came over to River Rose and Byron. Sarah said, "You got a nice bruise on your left arm and I don't think people would like you for that." Byron said, "Sarah, shut up." Daisy and Lexi came over to them. Sarah said, "Aww sweetie, you can keep your mouth shut and this isn't about you. I'm only talking to River Rose and Liam has a right to do so." Daisy asked, "Did you just say Liam has a right to do so?" Lexi asked, "What is wrong with you?" Sarah said, "You freak girls, you know that Liam is a perfect guy for River Rose and we don't want her here." Byron said, "Say that again to my ex one more time, I will tell everyone in the school that you slept with Ethan and cheated on Tyler." River Rose said, "I didn't know that you are a whore." Sarah said, "No I'm not." Lexi said, "Yes you are and the whole school actually knew about this on Facebook." Sarah said, "You did this to me." Lexi said, "None of us didn't do it and I think you will know it was Jennifer." Sarah said, "You guys are so stupid." River Rose said, "Maybe but if you will learn to not act all that then, Jennifer wouldn't make a post about you." Sarah asked, "Are you sure it was Jennifer?" Daisy said, "We're positive and it's been spreading around the school." Lexi said, "Yeah and if you go on Facebook, your name is already tagged in the post with Ethan and Tyler." Byron said, "Yeah and everyone seen your video." Sarah asked, "What video?" River Rose said, "It was when you were drunk at the party and Ethan was there." Byron asked, "Is he like same grade as you girls?" Lexi said, "Yeah and he's in a lot of trouble." Sarah said, "My parents are going to kill me." River Rose said, "We're sorry but we can't help you and you're facing the consequence here." Sarah said, "You freshmen niners are so useless." Daisy said, "You're welcome." Lexi said, "Bye bye." Sarah walks away and the announcer said, "Up next is River Rose Everdeen and the guy that looks like on TV from that one hit show name Byron Morgan." Marissa is shocked and River Rose and Bryon came on stage together. Beauty Pageant Coach give Byron a guitar and River Rose and Byron starts singing a song called "Wishing You Were Mine" as Carter is not liking this. Marissa asked, "What the hell is this?" Carter said, "They're singing a song together." Lexi and Daisy are watching River Rose and Byron singing together. Everybody clapped for them and the announcer said, "Wonderful talent, River Rose. Wonderful. You too Byron." Everybody stops clapping and the announcer said, "That was the most beautiful song that I ever heard and I haven't heard any songs like that in twenty five years." River Rose and Byron are so happy. The announcer asked, "Judges, what do we think about this talent?" Theresa said, "River, I have to say that you look stunning with the dress and that singing voice is so beautiful with that country accent." Samuel said, "Oh River, you are such a beauty and you brought Byron to help you out on your song. I have to say that this is more like Dolly and Kenny." Everybody clapped for River Rose and Byron with loud cheers. River Rose blows kisses to the audiences and Byron did too. Everybody stops clapping and Kendra said, "River Rose, you made this like bringing a country song as a history and we love you so much. I think we are picking you for the top finals of the ten people and we love you." Everybody are clapping for River Rose really loud and Byron hugs River Rose. River Rose hugs Byron and so did Lexi and Daisy with the other competitors. Everybody stops clapping and Byron pulls away with a hug and so did River Rose. Sonny said, "River, you are a real beauty and you are a star that we're looking for. Keep with this talent like this and you might be a winner as Miss Teen Country to win a tiara." Everybody clapped and Byron clapped for River Rose. Everybody stops clapping and the announcer said, "Well River Rose, this is your first time for joining the beauty pageant and everybody loves you. You have anything that you like to say before I'll go on with your other competitors." River Rose said, "Yes I do and I would love to say to you all as a big special thanks to you all as a gift. I'm glad to be part of the beauty pageant and you know what Dolly would say -" The audience and River Rose said, "You'll never do a whole lot unless you're brave enough to try." Everybody claps for River Rose for using Dolly Parton's quote and so did Byron. The announcer said, "Oh my. River Rose, bless your heart, you are adore with everyone in the audience with Dolly's quote and you are a one true beauty." Everybody stops clapping and the announcer said, "Thank you River Rose and Byron." River Rose and Byron walks off stage. The announcer asked, "Isn't River Rose a one true beauty?" Everybody claps and the announcer said, "Up next is Bekah Wilson." Bekah walks on stage and Byron and River Rose are in the backstage making out. Daisy asked, "What are you two doing?" Byron pulls away and said, "I'm in love with this Miss Teen Country for joining the top ten of the finals." River Rose said, "You are sexy." Byron said, "I can't help it for seeing you to join the beauty pageant." Lexi said, "Be careful with your PDA with our Miss Teen Country when Marissa might come in here and caught you guys." Byron said, "I know and everybody loves River Rose for the voice." Daisy said, "I know right and River, I didn't know that you can sing." River Rose said, "I actually won in a talent shows for years." Lexi said, "You are so lucky." River Rose asked, "Have any of you join one?" Daisy said, "Not me and I don't do any talent shows." Lexi said, "I used to and it was in my third grade year." Byron said, "Oh yeah and I think it's when you did like ten backflips." Lexi said, "Oh yeah and I haven't done one in forever." River Rose said, "Wow." Daisy said, "You were great back then and Sarah even puke when she ate something bad during the talent show." Byron said, "I remember that." River Rose said, "Well, I guess maybe that we're -" Margaret and Frank came in to the back room. Daisy asked, "Are they your parents?" River Rose said, "Yes." Margaret said, "River Rose Marie Everdeen, you are not supposed to be in the beauty pageant." Daisy said, "Mr. and Mrs. Everdeen, River is competing the top ten of the competitors." Frank said, "River, I think that's why you came home late." River Rose said, "I'm sorry guys but I wanted this and I'm not making any good effort at home lately because I wanted to have fun." Margaret said, "Oh honey, we're so sorry and we didn't know that you want to join the beauty pageant." Byron asked, "Will you guys please support your only daughter for this beauty pageant?" Margaret said, "Yes we will." Frank said, "We always do and you look so beautiful in that dress." River Rose said, "Thanks Daddy." Margaret said, "I haven't join the beauty pageant since I was your age." River Rose said, "I follow your footsteps, Mom and that's why I didn't want to tell you." Margaret said, "Oh sorry, sweetie and we were just worried about you for not coming home in time." River Rose said, "Well, I was with this handsome hunk and he brought me home after John gave us food." Frank said, "River, you didn't tell us that you and Bryon were singing together and we were in the audience." River Rose said, "Well, we wanted this as a big surprise." Margaret said, "Baby girl, you and Byron are so perfect for each other to sing together." Byron said, "You're the best." Frank said, "Maybe one day, you might be our son-in-law in the future." Byron said, "I will be honored to be part of this family and I'll be with River Rose for anything." Margaret said, "After I felt really bad for signing you up for abortion, I just remembered that we had you when I was fifteen and we're really sorry. I regret all of this and now, I know that you wanted to have kids." River Rose said, "Momma, I was just trying to make you guys happy and I wanted to be a mom like you." Margaret said, "Sweetheart, you and Byron can have kids." Frank said, "Just stay away from Liam before he kills you." River Rose said, "Thank you guys so much." Byron said, "Thanks guys." Margaret said, "Byron, you haven't changed that much since you were little and we heard that Jackson is in the hospital." Byron said, "Yeah and he's coming home in October." Frank said, "I say that everything will be back to normal." Marissa, Jake, and Carter came in to the backstage. Marissa said, "I didn't know we have visitors." River Rose said, "These are my parents." Jake said, "Hey Mr. and Mrs. Everdeen." Margaret said, "Hey Jake." Frank said, "Hey Jake." Carter said, "Hey beautiful." River Rose said, "God Carter, cut it out." Daisy said, "Carter, you are getting to where that I'll be breaking up with you." Carter said, "Daisy, I don't care what you say." Byron said, "I do and River Rose is not your girlfriend." Marissa said, "River Rose isn't your girlfriend anymore and she's your ex." Byron said, "I'm protecting her from Liam and I'm not leaving her." Lexi said, "Geez Marissa, calm down and they're just friends." Margaret said, "C'mon River, we need to go home." River Rose said, "I'll see you guys tomorrow." Byron said, "Bye." River Rose, Margaret, and Frank walks out. Daisy said, "You are so full of it." Carter said, "This is ridiculous." Jake said, "Carter, knock it off." Byron felt happy that he wants to start a family again and he'll leave Marissa for good by getting divorce.
