Blair's POV.
I woke up the next morning to sunlight streaming in through my curtains. Realizing what day it was, I shot out of bed and whipped around to look at my alarm clock. 7:45 AM it read in bright green letters. Breathing out a sigh of relief, I rushed into my closet and grabbed a pair of black jodhpurs, a light blue shirt, my zip up purple jacket and grabbed some undergarments on the way out. I walked down the hallway to the bathroom that I shared with Olivia and started getting ready. I hopped into a shower, blow dried my hair, dressed and put my hair into an elegant bun on the top of my head and walked out. I walked into the ensuite kitchen and noticed that there were boxes on the floor, along with my brother. "Jonah, what are you doing on the floor?" I asked. "I'm looking for food. The movers dad and mom hired to bring all the stuff for the dorm arrived at 6 this morning. Payton and I helped them bring everything in while you and Olivia were still asleep." He said. "Oh. Why didn't you come wake me up Jonah! You know I need enough time to do everything on days like these. Now that I think about it, why didn't my alarm go off?" I questioned him.
"I went into your room last night and tucked you into bed and turned off your alarm. I'm sorry sis, i know how much you like to get up early, I just didn't want you to be overtired for this. You and Payton practiced for 8 hours yesterday. That takes a lot out of you, I would know. I also know that when you're tired, Titan feeds off your tiredness and acts up because you're very irritable. Although we don't have to worry about Sabrina and her little friends, we still have to go up against someone and I figured you would want to blow them out of the water like you always do." Jonah said, looking sheepishly at me. I hugged him, my way of letting him know he was forgiven and then I helped myself to three blueberry muffins as I walked back to my room to grab my helmet and freshly polished boots.
Walking out to the main part in the dorm, I saw Payton putting on his boots. "Hey" I said, smiling at him. "Hey Blair." he answered. "You heading down?" I asked. "Yep. I have a show routine that I do with Spirit every time there's a test or show." He said. "So do I. I'm about to head out actually. Want to walk with me?" I asked. "Sure, just let me grab my jacket and we can go" Payton said, walking quickly out of the room and down the hall to get his jacket. He came back and we left the dorm, with me yelling to Olivia and Jonah to get their asses down to the barn before they become so late that people think they're in 6th grade.
Payton and I made small talk on the way down to the barn and decided that we were going to find a quiet spot to tack up together. Payton and I made it to the barn at exactly 8:30. We had about 2 hours until our testing and we had no idea who we were going against, considering that we were supposed to go against Sabrina and her little friends. Walking inside the barn, I quickly grabbed Titans dark green and black halter and leadline. Bringing him out of his stall, I saw a flash of silver outside on the barn wall and walked towards it, smiling when I saw it was a post with spots to tie your leadline or reins as you tacked up or untacked your horse. Walking quickly with Titan by my side, I walked a little farther down and found a shady spot where I tied Titan with a slipknot and walked back inside to find Payton and grab my tack.
Spotting Payton through the small crowd of students was easy. He was standing at the entrance of the arena, his eyes mapping out the space. Spirit stood calmly next to him and he had about 10 girls who looked to be a year younger than us, looking longingly at him, probably hoping he would turn around and ask them all out on a date or something. I sighed quietly, knowing the only way to get to him was through the little crowd of girls. Rolling my eyes, I passed my hand through my hair, giving my hair a little bit of a fluff to it and walked over. I walked down the aisle towards him, my boots clicking quietly on the floor. Upon hearing me approach, all ten heads whipped towards me, their eyes filled with hatred quickly when they saw my appearance. "Payton" I called softly, making him turn toward me. The girls sighed when they caught sight of his face. Keeping myself composed, I smiled and went to hug him. He responded with a little sigh and buried his face in my hair, breathing in softly. I whispered in his ear about the girls and he whispered back that he knew they were standing there the entire time and he didn't feel like turning around to give them the light of day. Pulling away from me, he still kept one arm around me, he smiled a brilliant smile. "Hey beautiful. You find our spot?" He asked, keeping his voice light and loving. I heard a little scream, followed by 20 foot steps practically running away. "Sure did. It's perfect." I said.
