Twenty Three - Nightmare

MERIDA'S POV

I couldn't sleep. I went downstairs to get myself a glass of water. I just sat for a moment and thoughts came running into my head. I can't believe what Anna said earlier. Rapunzel? She saw Rapunzel? But how? Just thinking of her makes me weak. I can't stop crying. If she really saw Rap, I hope she's okay. But why did she run away? Watching us? She's been watching us? It doesn't makes sense. I don't know what to think anymore. Urgh!

"Can't sleep?"

From the sound of his voice, I knew it was Hiccup. I sniffed and immediately removed the tears that were falling down my face.

"No" I sighed. "How could I?" I turned my face to him and faked a smile. He looked at the ground and sat beside me. There was silence and slight of awkwardness that's lurking between us.

"Just tell me Hiccup. I know you want to tell me something, just burst it out." I demanded. He looked surprised and I just looked at him waiting for him to speak up.

He first cleared his throat and took a deep breath.

"I...I'm sorry." he stammered.

It's funny when he can't look me in my eyes. I know he's scared.

"Sorry for what?" I asked, pretended that I had no idea what he was sorry for. I just wanna hear it from him.

He looked at me and apologized." I'm sorry about the proposal thing. I was just drunk, that's all."

I chuckled and he looked more embarrassed now. It's funny when you're messing with your friends.

"It's okay." I said and played with the glass in front of me.

"That's it? Okay?" he asked like he wants something more to what I've said.

"Yeah. What do you want me to say?" I asked.

"No...Nothing. I thought you're gonna be mad and won't accept my apology unless you hurt me or let me beg or kill me?" He shrugged with confusion in his face.

"Do you want me to?" I asked with a straight face.

"No! No! No! Psshhh! Okay is fine. It's fine!" he answered while awkwardly laughing.

"So what do you think?" I asked with a serious tone.

"About what?" he asked too.

"About what happened earlier. In the forest? with Anna?"

He sighed first before answering.

"I don't know."

Elsa came and sat with us. "Hey Guys" she greeted weakly.

"Hey Elsa. How is she?" I asked her. Elsa stayed in Anna's room to make sure her sister is fine. She's so worried about Anna.

"She's already sleeping." she answered and stood up to get herself a glass of water.

"Are we going to tell our parents about this?" Hiccup asked.

"I think it's not a good idea." I answered.

"I don't know about you guys but I think my parents already know about this." Elsa joked then smiled.

Hiccup and I looked at her stunned. Our eyes widened and we can't open our mouths for a few seconds. We can't speak up. She doesn't tell jokes in serious situations like what we have now.

"What? I just wanna change the mood guys." she said and sat again. "I know what happened earlier is something we don't need to be happy about but all our lives, we took everything seriously. We lived with troubles and tragedies." she explained.

"Elsa's right guys." Jack said while leaning on the wall beside the door.

"How long have you been standing there?" I asked.

"Since Elsa joked." he answered while walking towards us. "That was good actually." he smiled and sat beside Elsa.

" And if Rapunzel is really alive, we should be happy about that and let's all hope that she is okay." he added.

"But we still don't know the reason why she ran away. Anna said she's been watching us." Hiccup said. "You think that's true?"

"The trees told her that and I believe her." Elsa said. I noticed that she became worried again.

"Yeah. I believe her too." Jack agreed.

"Of course you do! She's Elsa's sister!" Hiccup said then we laughed.

"It's not because of that Hiccup!" he said with a straight face. "I mean we all know that she has pow..."

"SSSSHHHHH!" Elsa cut him off.

"I'm sorry."he responded.

"Let's just move on. If she really is alive, we'll see her soon. I know that." Elsa exclaimed.

"Come on. Let's all rest." I told them and they all agreed. We stood up and went to our rooms.

ANNA'S POV

"Wake up child."

"Honey wake up."

"Wake up!"

I hear so many voices. I slowly opened my eyes and I saw a beautiful woman.

My sight wasn't clear. It was still blurry. I gaped when I realized who she was.

"Mom?" I asked then she smiled. Her sweet smile that I love so much.

I closed my eyes and scratched them. When I finally opened them, she was already gone. "Mom?" I looked around and I was in a forest. It was dark but the fireflies kept the night bright. I don't know how I got here but I hear them talking again. The trees, the flowers, some of them were singing and some of them were laughing. I stood up and tried to listen. I can't understand them. I went near to a tree. It was the biggest and the most beautiful tree I ever saw. I touched her and she talked to me.

"Run away." she whispered.

"What? Why?" I asked.

"It's not her fault. She was just being a good girl."she answered.

"Who? Who's the good girl?"I asked again.

"She's near. Run away!" she repeated.

I hear footsteps from somewhere. I looked around but there was no one.

"Tell me. Who is the girl?" I asked the tree again but someone else answered.

"I am."

She was behind me. I know that voice. I slowly turned around and gasped when I saw her. Her long hair wasn't blonde anymore. It was color black.

"Rapunzel?" I asked and slowly went near to her. Her eyes changed too, they were black.

"You're alive?" I asked and tears fell from my eyes.

"I'm sorry." she cried and I embraced her.

"It's okay Rapunzel. Everything is gonna be fine." I told her and she shook her head.

"No. I'm so sorry Anna." she was still crying and I just embraced her tight. The sun rose behind us and I saw our shadow in front of me. She lift her arm and i saw she was holding a....... a dagger!

"I'm sorry"she whispered.

"NOOOOO!" I screamed but it was too late.

She already stabbed me. She hit me again and again and my blood started to pour. I fell down on my knees and the pain left. I just felt weak and it was already hard for me to breathe.

"I...It's o..okay." I gasped for air. "You...You're j..ju..just be..ing a go..good girl" I said weakly.

"Everything is gonna be okay." It was the last thing I hear from her. She left me lying on the ground and my eyes starting to close then everything went black.
