Twenty - Ball

HICCUP'S POV

 We waited for almost half an hour.

"What's taking them so long?" Jack asked and crossed his arms.

"It's a girl thing guys, give them some more time." Anna answered.

A maid came and offered us some mini cakes. Anna took two cakes and gave it to us.

"Eat these, chew some food while we're waiting. You guys are so impatient." she instructed.

"Pshh. Merida a girl? Come on." I said while Jack chuckled and we both ate our mini cakes. Suddenly, the door opened and it wasn't what we expected. Jack and I choked as we saw Merida. Anna and Elsa laughed while Merida glared at us. 

"What do you think guys?" Elsa asked. We were surprised by Merida's new look. Anna clapped her hands in excitement while Jack and I coughed, gasped and breathe for some air.

"I think it's beautiful." Anna answered and looked at Merida with adoration.

I didn't think that a boy like Merida, I mean a girl pardon, would be that beautiful. I felt my heart thumped.

"Huh! Surprised Haddock?" Merida smirked and crossed her arms.

I blinked for several times and cleared my throat. "Y-Ye-Yeah." I stammered. "I didn't think that you'll transform from ugly duckling to a new duckling." I teased.

Merida didn't saw it as a compliment so she punched me to my stomach. "Owww "Jack, Anna and Elsa laughed while I was on my knees, in pain. Great thinking Haddock!

I offered my arm to Merida to escort her down the stairs but she refused.

"No thank you. I can do this on my own." Sassy isn't she?

Elsa was already holding Jack's arm. I decided to offer my arms to Anna because she doesn't have an escort. 

"Got rejected huh?" she giggled and I shyly nodded. She took my arms and we all walked downstairs.

MERIDA'S POV

I hate parties, specially a ball of my own. It's just not my thing, I guess. I just want to spend my time with my friends or wander to the forest with Angus. The ball was Scottish-themed so Jack, Anna, Elsa and Hiccup thought that it was kinda weird. When the music played, Hiccup offered a hand for us to dance. I raised a brow at him and he rolled his eyes.

"Come on." he pulled me and we started dancing. I had no choice since we're already at the center.

"You know, you look pretty tonight." he said.

"Shut up Haddock!" I replyed and he chuckled.

"It's true!" he added. "But I like you more with your bow with your natural look and not dressing like that." he continued. I don't know what to say so I just smiled secretly. The party was more of jumping, hopping, clapping of hands and smiling. I suggested a normal music so my friends can enjoy the party like what they are having in their kingdoms. The music changed to a romantic/boring music. Urgh! I don't like this either.

He cleared his throat like he was nervous or something. I felt awkward, I guess he did too.

"You don't like the atmosphere huh?" he asked.

"You got that right." I sighed.

We stopped and he pulled me again. We ran outside the castle. We headed to the forest where Toothless was hiding. He climbed up and offered a hand. I asked if I could sit in front of him and he let me but he said that I should tie my hair. 

"Why?" I asked almost yelled.

"I don't want red curly snakes for dinner." 

I glared at him and he just shrugged. How dare him insult my hair!

"Fine!" I rolled my eyes and tied my hair on my left side.. "Where are we going anyway?" I asked and he sighed.

"Just... come on! ." he commanded.

"Fine. Fine. Whatever." I took his hand and climbed up on Toothless.

We flew and I guess Hiccup knew what I wanted. This feeling of freedom when we're flying. No music, no people, no parties, just the cold breeze and the breathtaking view. I loved the feeling like it was my first time. I felt Hiccup embraced me with his left arm while his right arm controlling Toothless. He also leaned his head into my right shoulder.

"Hiccup?" I asked and he hummed in response. "What are you doing?" I looked at him and raised a brow.

He was shocked by my question and immediately removed his head and arm from me and just focused on Toothless. I looked at the view again and smiled without him knowing.

After a few more hours, we returned and people were already leaving. The party was over, that's good. I hopped out from Toothless and petted his head. 

"Thank you Toothless. You're such a wonderful creature." he smiled and licked my face. "uuugghhh, just don't do that." I laughed. 

I looked at Hiccup and mouthed a "Thank you."

JACK'S POV

During the party...

Feeling lucky because I am dancing with my Queen.

"You did a great job My Queen." I whispered to her ear.

"You think so?" she asked.

"Yes. I think she looked beautiful because of you." I answered and she giggled.

"Well, I used my powers so it was glistening." she explained and I just smiled as I turned her.

I don't think that the music was waltz or something because it was kinda weird for us. We're not used to scottish-themed party but it was Merida's so we just tried to fit in. The music got slower and we still danced. Maybe someone requested it.

She tucked her head to my chest and she was closing her eyes. I thought about how cute she was, about how lucky I am to be with her. I wanted to talk to her alone. I wanted to tell her everything. I wanted to tell her how much I love her but I wasn't brave enough.

"Elsa?" I whispered and she hummed in respond.

"I-I umm I" she looked at me and waited for what I was going to say.

"What is it Jack?" she asked and I think I blushed making her giggle.

"I love you too" she gaped when she realized what she just said. I was shocked too but in a good way. She covered her mouth with her hands, " I'm sorry".

We both blushed and there was silence between us.
