Soft music plays. The melody of the instrument blends beautifully with the chink of teacups and the hum of pleasant conversation. On a cushion in a corner rests a small figure, a pale blue cape wrapped around her relaxed frame. Her eyes were closed and she hummed softly with the music. Her legs were crossed, her feet were wrapped in tiny fur shoes.
A sudden bang harshly stopped the music and startled the gnome out of her peaceful place on the cushion. Gasps and startled cries issued from the guests as a frantic man yelled "Flee! Flee! There's robbers on the roads!"
Screams echoed through the walls as patrons rushed to the door.
The robbers around the town of Bal-hanime were powerful and harsh. They were rich from attacking unsuspecting caravans and travelers. Every patron of the once quiet tea shop knew it too.
The slim figure that still holds the guitar stepped calmly through the crowd, holding herself erect and gracefully. She strode up to the frenzied messenger and stated in a smooth voice "How many?"
"Four!" the nervous man squeaked.
Slinging her instrument over her shoulder the elf bounded out the door.
The gnome was impressed by the elf's bravery. She leaped off the cushion and scurried swiftly out the door, grabbing her thick oak staff as she went.
Charging up the path, she grew closer to the elf, who was still gliding down the path. Reddish hair streaming, she came up next to the elf.
"I'm coming too!" She stated.
The piercing eyes glanced down at her.
"What do you know of fighting?" she asked in her silky smooth voice.
"I'm a monk!" Shouted the gnome up at her.
Together they flew towards the city entrance to stop the robbers in their tracks.
