Third Person's POV
And of course days didn't past without the mighty Young Master Wei Wuxian causing trouble.
And so, Wei WuXian was punished again and again and again...
At first, he didn't think too much of it. It was only copying texts, and he never lacked people who copied for him. Yet, this time, Nie Huaisang spoke, "Wei-xiong, even if I want to help you, I can't any more. You'd have to endure it on your own."
Nie Huaisang made a agreement with Wei Wuxian before...
Although he didn't understand a single bit as he listened in class, Nie Huaisang worked as hard as a slave when the date of the test approached.
He copied Virtue two times for Wei Wuxian, and begged before the test, "Please, Wei-xiong, if my grade is lower than yi, my brother would really break my legs! Stuff like telling apart direct lineage, collateral lineage, main clan, clan branches...
For us disciples from big clans, we can't even distinguish our relationships with our own relatives, randomly calling everyone who are more than two tiers away from us aunts and uncles. Does anyone have enough capacity in their brain to remember those of other clans?!"
There are four grades--jia, yi, bing, and ding. Yi is the second level.
And that's it, as a result of cheating notes flying everywhere in the air.
Lan Qiren exploded with anger, writing letters to the prominent clans to tell on them.
Jiang Fengmian replied, "Ying has always been like this. Please take care to discipline him, Mr. Lan."
Lan Qiren also suspected that someone copies the punishment for Wei Wuxian thats why he decided Wei Wuxian will write it in the Library Pavilion.
Nie Huaisang, "Old... Mr. Lan said that you have to copy both Virtue and Conduct."
Conduct was the most complicated section of the twelve sections in the Lan Sect's sect rules.
It cited a lot of classics, was terribly long, and had a lot of rarely-used characters.
Copy it one time, and one would lose all interest in life. Copy it ten times, and one would fly to Heaven on the spot.
Nie Huaisang added, "He also said that, during the time of the punishment, nobody is allowed to fool around with you or copy them for you."
(fly to the heaven- this happens when a cultivator reaches the high level of his/her cultivation and they finally become immortal and fly up to the heaven but this happen only in high fantasy)
-Inside the Library Pavilion-
There was one bamboo seat, one wooden desk, two candlesticks, and 3 people. The Lan Cousins sat in a proper position, but, on the other side, Wei Wuxian had already copied Conduct for more than ten pages.
His head felt dizzy and his heart felt bored, so he dropped his pen to take a breath and looked across.
Lan Wangji was recopying ancient books, which were not only old but also unavailable to most others, in the Lan Sect's Library Pavilion.
While Lan Xiaolian was reading some of the poems that was suggested by Lan Xichen to her and some too that she wants to read. She doesn't want to be alone on her room reading the poems so she just accompanied Lan Wangji in the Library pavilion.
When he was still in Yunmeng (talking about Wei Wuxian), there were a lot of boys who envied that they could come and study with Lan Xiaolian, and Lan Zhan.
They said that each generation was full of nice-looking lad's, especially the three Lan Cousins.
Before this, Wei Wuxian never had the chance to carefully examine the front of her face. Now that he had a look at it, he started to think random thoughts, She looks pretty indeed. Yet, if only those boys could come and see her with their own eyes. Looking as bitter as if everyone had offended her or her parents died, it wouldn't matter no matter how nice her face looks.
Such a pretty lady with a pretty face like her should be smiling more than frowning -Wei Wuxian thought
Wei Wuxian rarely kept his mouth shut for such a long amount of time.
Feeling suffocated, he thought, I have to sit in front of such a stuffy persons for so many hours each day, for a month. Would I even survive?
At this point of thought, he couldn't help but slightly tilted his body forward.
Started to gaze to the girl in the Pavilion while reading her book, minding her own world inside of it.
He didn't realize that a smile appeared on his mouth at the same time he felt his heart beated so fast like he never felt before.
His heart only beated fast to anything related to dog because he have Cynophobia.
He started to draw his face until its done, he stoop up and walked besides her.
Lan Wangji eyed him, "go back to your sit and do you work rather doing something nonsense"
Wei Wuxian didn't mind Lan Wangji.
Wei Wuxian stared at the book Xiaolian was reading, Song of Divination
I live upstream and you downstream,
From night to night of you I dream.
Unlike the stream you are not in view,
Though both we drink from River Blue.
When will the river no more flow?
When will my grief no more grow?
I wish your heart will be like mine,
Then not in vain for you I pine.
Wei Wuxian laughed, "This poem surrounds the Yangtze River to express men and women's sentiment of lovesickness, a didn't expect you like to read something like this"
Immediately the girl face got red in shyness,
On the other hand a shocked Lan Zhan face turned to Lan Xiaolian too.
"Why can't I?" Xiaolian managed to speak.
"You're pretty, why would someone not like you back?"
"What are you saying?! You should go back copying than chatting with me here about nonsense" Xiaolian lowered the book and was about to change the book she reading but Wei Wuxian lowered the paper and it reveals the pretty portrait of Xiaolian.
Its flawless and you would think that a professional painter really painted those.
"Wei Wuxian what are you doing?!" A voice startled them.
