victoria's pov

it's been a couple days since the storm and the whole grounder incident. nothing much happened we're still repairing the camp from the damage.

i'm still recovering, but clarke said i'm healing pretty fast so by tomorrow i could be put on light labor.

i look to my side and see june sleeping peacefully on the opposite part of the tent in their cot. i don't know how people can still go on everyday like nothing happened. ten of our people died already and i know there's bound to be more.

i swing my legs over the side and place my feet on the ground, putting on my boots, jacket and glasses, pulling myself out of the warm bed. i exit the tent looking up at the dark sky full of bright stars and the big moon.

a slight smile creeps up my face thinking of how my parents might be looking at the same moon i'm looking at right now. thinking of me like i'm thinking about them.

i look walk a little around camp, the dead leaves crunching beneath my feet. i say hi to a couple people on night watch duty and spark up a conversation to help them stay awake.

my eyes land on the campfire in the middle of this section of the camp. it's slowly dying out as the orange and red fire dims. i stare at it for what seems like half an hour just taking in the peaceful and quiet scenery.

that was until i heard some laughing coming from a tent to my right. my curiosity got the best of me and i decided to check it out and snoop.

"bro bro bro, what if all of this is a simulation. and we're just like guinea pigs in their experiments." a voice says.

"jasper, please go to sleep. i never should've let you touch that alcohol." ah monty and jasper.

i decide to open the zipper a tiny bit and stick my head in.

"hey boys." i whisper with a smile on my face.

they both jump out of startle but quickly calm down when they realize it's me.

"what do you say we get out of here? go for a little adventure." i wiggle my eyebrows, stepping into the tent and taking a seat between them on the floor.

i look back and forth and their faces. they don't seem very convinced.

"okay, so like i'm bored and can't sleep. and i'm sick of being cooped up in this camp ever since we brought that grounder."

"victoria, we have a valid reason. his buddies could come and rescue him. plus, how would we get past the guards." jasper argues.

i roll my eyes and groan. "okay yeah. but we're on earth. live now! not later. let's explore this planet while we can without thinking of territory and death. and i'll figure out a way, i saw a hole in the wall a couple days ago."

monty suddenly widens his eyes. "i'm going to get some rest because he kept me up all night. but you guys can go exploring, just bring some form of weapon with you. just in case."

i take my pocket knife out of my boot and open it, flashing him the sharp blade.

"i think i got it covered. jasper come on!" i grab jasper's hand, he tries to protest to monty but monty shuts him up and tells him something about opportunity. whatever that means.
