Close Encounter

A hero commission and villain society.

If you were to ask me personally, I'd say it was one we could never coexist. A villain's ideals are always different than a hero's. It is said that it's unheard of that a hero and villain would even agree on each other's point of view.

However, if I said that before meeting one face to face, my mentality would be similar to any sane hero in the region.

I think it would be best to present my circumstances better to you.

It was like any other day in Tokyo. People live day-to-day through routine, feeling safe when heroes can protect them from danger. For me, it wasn't like that.

I was part of an agency from a Pro Hero named Sir Nighteye. He always kept a close eye on me no matter what I did. To me, he seemed kind of an overprotective father figure who wanted to ensure I wouldn't get myself hurt. Especially if it's a walk to the store, this overprotective problem evolved as pathetic.

One day, as I snuck away from his agency, I wanted to learn what it is like apart from being a hero. It wasn't much, but it was worth being away from mundane assignments. While an average person would wear something secret to hide their identity from the world, I did quite the opposite. I decided to hide my costume and go out as if I were a human being but with my quirk activated at all times.

"Gosh, look at all these people." I thought to myself. "They all seem so happy with their lives. What is it about them that makes them seem calm? Is it because of the heroes?"
"You there!" a voice called from a distance, "wanna try our free samples?"

Gullible momentarily, I pointed towards myself to see if he was talking to me. When he nodded, I walked to the person to accept his deals until...

"Help! Help!"

A desperate cry was called out further down the streets. Not thinking of the free samples, I ran towards the cry and went to save the person in need. When I caught up to their cries, I saw a woman who was robbed in the streets.

"Don't worry, ma'am." I reassured, changing my attire into my hero uniform, "I will find the perpetrators responsible and seek justice for you!"

Using my quirk, I glanced around to sense the woman's purse. After a while, I targeted the scent and followed suit.

Meanwhile, Sir Nighteye was doing his regular duties in his office: keeping the progress of assignments designated to other pro heroes and ensuring I was not doing anything reckless with my job as a prestigious hero.

With his foresight as his quirk, he could already know what events would occur from the person's point of view. Sadly, the vision sometimes becomes vague depending on time and place.

Suddenly, as he was in the middle of his paperwork, he received a strange premonition in his foresight. It was rare for him to receive one on command without using his quirk. According to his quirk, he saw the man he wanted to capture and me. Unaware of what it meant, he wasn't hesitant to pick up his phone.

"Yes, Sir Nighteye?" the receiver replied.
"Bring Mirio to me." He demanded, "There's something I need to tell him."
"But sir, he's still in class right now-"
"It is imperative for him to be here right away!"
"I'll see to it, sir!"

Sometime later, as he sat patiently for Mirio, he thought carefully about the vision. What did this mean to Sir? Was it a rivalry vision? No. Blood would've appeared throughout his vision. What else could it be if not that?

"Sorry I was late," apologized a student named Mirio. "Principal Nezu wouldn't allow me to leave early."
"Understandable," responded Sir Nighteye as he regained his posture.
"So what seems to be the problem, Sir Nighteye? You barely call me in case of emergencies."
"I recently received an odd premonition from my quirk."
"Really? What about?"
"I'm not sure. What I do know is that H/N is in danger. Until she is safe, I require you to find her, Mirio. Don't engage in a fight unless it is necessary."
"Is H/N not at home?"
"Already contacted. It seems like her phone is not answering."
"Then maybe she's gone to her assignment?"
"There's no assignment available for her today."
"Then what about-"
"Mirio. If my apprehension is vague, we should focus on finding H/N. She'll be in great danger if she remains unfound."
"I understand, sir."

Mirio turned towards the office door of Sir Nighteye and went towards the city streets merely to find me. As soon as Mirio was out of sight, Sir Nighteye sighed.

"I've got a bad feeling about this."

"Thank you so much, young lady!" the lady called moments later.

The capture was easy as the two were tied up with rope. With how quickly my quirk was sapping, I returned the bag left for the old lady.

"There is no problem at all, madam. Just make sure everything you have is in one piece."
"Of course. Thank you, H/N!"

With a smile escaping my countenance, one of the villains freed himself from the ropes and fled the scene. As fast as I could, I thanked the lady and chased after him. A few minutes after capturing the villain for a second time, I noticed how I concluded the point my sense direction was terrible. With my heroic actions happening, I lost track of where I was going.

"This is bad!" my mind thought, "If I can't figure out how to get back, Sir's going to kill me! Knowing him, he'd already know I'd get lost out here! What should I do? What should I-"

Suddenly, as my mind was deep into thought, something big stood in my path. Unable to move aside right away, I bumped into the figure and fell flat-faced onto the ground below me.

"Hey," a male voice responds, turning towards me. "Watch where...you're..."

He immediately turned his body around to reprimand the person responsible but was stopped as he looked down at me. Still in my hero costume, I directly gaze at him with my golden eyes. From my point of view, he was someone I may have read once in a fairytale story. A prince of sorts, if memory served me correctly. While his attire was strange, the only thing blocking his beauty was a plague covering.

With no remarks between us, our eyes stared at each other as time stood still. While our meeting was accidental, that close encounter changed our entire world eternally.
