after school, katsuki and i had gone to get ramen and we had split the bill since we kept arguing. he had calmed down a bit from how he was earlier and i was glad we were able to hang out more. he seemed to be warming up to me and i was happy that i could get to know him more. to think of it, he was really the only friend i really hung out with and talked to on a daily basis. we would even text when we couldn't be together.
i didn't really know what that meant, but it was nice having a friend that wouldn't judge me on my quirk or try to use me. anyways, when i had gotten home, i found my mom sitting on my couch, looking at the television and the news on ingenium's condition.
i had asked why she was here, and she had told me that she wanted to know immediately who i had chosen for my internships. she didn't have to come all the way here, she should have just called. but i answered nonetheless and told her that i chose her agency. she cooked up a storm after that news.
she was extremely glad, and so was i. it has been a good couple of days. i thought more and reminisced as i hugged the bunny plushie from the arcade and fell asleep that night.

the next week, it was time for our internships. katsuki and i had met up with the class at the train station. i would be traveling to fujinomiya, my hometown and i'd be staying in my childhood home again. i was excited, but a little scared for people to recognize me again. fujinomiya is a small place and most people living in a neighborhood knew each other. people there pitied me and it was really annoying.
we had been given out hero suits and aizawa sensei scolded us and warned us to be good. in a way, he was the dad of our class. we were dismissed soon after and katsuki and i walked together since we would be going on the same train with different stops. he would be going somewhere near hosu, but i don't know which city exactly. he never told me who he was interning for anyways.
"so you're going to be working with your folks?" he asked gruffly as i nodded.
"i'll be going back home, but i'm not very excited to."
"what do you mean? isn't that your home?"
i sigh. "the people there all know me and pity me for something that happened so long ago. i just hope they don't look at me like that all time, it's demeaning."
"can't you just scare them off or something? i mean, you could stop their hearts if you wanted to." i looked away, my cheeks flushing.
"that's not very hero-like, katsu. i can't actually kill people." we were quiet after that, getting on our train and finding a row of seats for both of us. katsuki had given me the window seat and i was glad. it would take around five hours for me to get to my hometown and three-fourths that for katsuki to go to his internship city.
silence ensued, and it was deafening to me as i looked at the passing city. lost in my thoughts, i was broken out of it when katsuki nudged my shoulder. "if anyone tries anything on you, just call me and i'll be there in seconds. but don't get all mushy, dumbass. i've still got my stupid internship."
i crack a smile at him. "who knew you could be so caring? just like when you got me that bunny-" katsuki turns from me with an annoyed expression to which i laugh.
"shut up twin-tails! i'll ignore your calls and let you die!" i smile, leaning my elbow on the armrest.
"no, you wouldn't. you're too heroic, katsu." he scoffed, looking straight in front of him. "oh, katsu. can i ask something of you?"
he looks over at me with a curious glance. "depends."
"can you call me hana? we're friends, aren't we?" i ask, pouting a little as he pushes my face away from his and scoffs once again.
"whatever, dumbass," he mumbles and i can see the red crawling on his ears as he faces away from me once again. i chuckle.
"c'mon, say it! i wanna hear it!"
"people call you that all the time! it wouldn't be any different!" he turns to me, his angry face looking at me with false intentions.
"but it's different 'cause it's you, katsuki! c'mon!" he looks a little shocked to hear me say this and clicks his tongue before looking into my eyes intensely. i blush a little as i look at his vermillion eyes staring into mine.
"hana."
my cheeks flush hotter at the way he says it. not angry or with ill intentions, but as softly as he could with his naturally raspy voice. you'd think having a blood quirk, i'd be able to control these reactions.
i look away quickly and hide my face with the sleeves of my cardigan as katsuki begins to yell at me for being weirded out and how it was a bad idea. "i told your stupid ass, it's weird!" i pull my sleeves from my face and begin hitting him lightly.
"shut up! it's not weird, i'm just not used to it! it's like when i said your first name the first time and you got all flustered and stuff! say my name more, katsu!" at this, we both blush, and i feel as if steam is coming from my ears as my face burns brighter and i'm sure he is as well. i was too flustered to focus on my own quirk.
"fucking dumbass, just look at me already!"
peeking my face from my sleeves once more, i find katsuki staring at me intently, his face as red as mine as he now grabs my wrists and pulls them down for me to see him clearer. i try hiding my face, but i can hear his growl as he pulls my wrists, having me get closer to him.
as you can see, this crush of mine is not working out as well as i hoped. or is it? i don't know whether i like this or not. we both said some really embarrassing things. after a few moments more of staring at each other, i can feel my heart beating against my ribcage. he suddenly lets go of me and i sit there, almost frozen.
"fuckin' hell,"
"katsuki?"
"the shit you do to me, hana."
