“Yes Nikki. Mia is at cheerleading practice right now. She wasn’t lying.” Maya reassured Nikki. “We still haven’t found Cole yet. We might have to call the police.” Nikki informed Maya. “Then Mia will find out. Which is what we were trying to avoid.” Maya sighed and opened the front door to her apartment to let Josh inside. He pecked her cheek as he entered and shut the door behind him. The girls said goodbye and Maya hugged Josh. “What’s wrong beautiful?” Josh frowned. “The whole Cole situation. He is still missing and it has been a month now. No one knows if he is in New York or back at college. Mia is starting to get suspicious on why she never has any more alone time.” Maya admitted. Josh hugged Maya tighter and kissed the top of her head. “He will show up soon. Mia and everyone will be safe. Don’t stress out too much, beautiful.” Josh reassured her. Maya agreed and they walked over to the couch to watch a movie.
After cheer practice Farkle was taking a shower and Mia was annoyed. She sat down on a chair in his room. Her phone was being blown up with texts and calls from Cole for a month now. She hated ignoring them but she kept her promise to Thor. At the 700th call today Mia threw her phone on Farkle’s bed and walked out of the room. She left a note saying she was going on a walk and left the building. Walking down the street nearly everyone she walked passed said hi to her or waved. Mia always returned the smile and a wave. She walked to a park and saw a guitar leaning against the bench. No one else was there with her. Sitting down at the bench she grabbed the guitar and started to strum lightly.
“Let’s see if I can remember…” Mia talked to herself. Strumming a few more chords it flowed back to her naturally. She shut her eyes and started to play again like how her stepmom taught her. As she played, people walked up and listened. The song Mia played was a beautiful song and it put smiles on everyone's faces. They all passed around a cup and put some money in it. Once Mia was done and she opened her eyes everyone started to clap. She blushed and her eyes widened at the cup that was placed next to her. “Oh I can’t take your guys money.” They all smiled warmly at her shaking their hands as they walked away.
“Mia?” A voice called to her. She tensed up hearing the voice. Facing the direction of the voice she looked him in the eyes, “hello Cole.” Mia didn’t let her voice waver or show that she was panicking. She never intended to break her promise with Thor. “I missed you!” Cole walked up to her for a hug. Mia missed him as well but she stepped back from the hug. Cole didn’t look like he was taking care of himself and that worried her. Hurt flashed before his eyes as he looked down at her. “I have something to tell you Mia and everyone says I shouldn’t tell you but I have too.” Cole looked her in the eyes. This scared her a little. When he looked in her eyes they were dark and glassy. Not the warm brown eyes they used to be.
“I- actually have to go..” She turned on her heel. He grabbed her arm to stop her. “Wait please.” He begged. She didn’t face him. “No, now please let me go.” Mia’s voice stood firm. His grip tightened on her arm. “No, we need to talk Mia.” His voice lowered. “Cole, you’re hurting me.” Mia snatched her arm back. Suddenly Maya and Josh were at their sides. Josh grabbed Cole by the jacket collar and had him up close.
“When a girl tells you no and to let you go you listen. You got that pal?” Josh growled. Maya was at Mia’s side and led her away from the park to the bakery. “Back off man.” Cole rolled his eyes. Josh clenched his fist and released him. As he started to walk away Cole yelled at him, “Mia and I will be together at some point. You can’t stop us!” That made Josh stop in his tracks and return back to Cole. Pushing him up against a tree. “Mia is dating Farkle. She is happy. You have no right going around ruining her life. She has a say in this so-called relationship as well and she will say no in a heartbeat because she loves Farkle.” Josh went off on him. “Yeah we’ll see about that. Pretty soon she’ll be in my bed moaning my name.” Cole smirked. “You pig! Only wanting her for her body.” Josh’s eyes darkened and his anger took over. Josh punched Cole right in the face and he stormed off to the bakery. Leaving Cole on the ground freaking out about his bloodied nose.
