I saw Legolas freeze and look up at the balcony. He screamed Merewen’s name and ran up to her chamber. I took this opportunity to calm Elladan down, but he just waved me off. I walked up the stairs to see what had gotten Legolas’s attention, and was shocked at the sight I saw before me.

I saw Legolas holding Merewen in his arms, with blood rushing everywhere. I saw the look on her face, and she was smiling. I figured that the emotions became too much for her, and she just wanted to stop the pain. I called a healer into the room, and the King also came. The King immediately walked over to the bed and pulled Legolas away from Merewen. Legolas collapsed onto the floor and started to cry, sobs wracked his body allowing him to do nothing to help his love. Elladan saw this sight and froze.

He saw the blood everywhere, the sob-wracked body of Legolas on the floor being held by his father, and me flying around the room helping the healer. I heard Merewen mumble, “I am fine, ‘tis nothing, leave me be; I’m just a bit tired,” but no one stopped, this only made us work harder. I looked at Merewen, who appeared so pale that she was starting to blend into the sheets. Her eyes were closed tightly, which was a bad sign on its own, and her breathing was shallow and erratic.

Elladan’s emotions were racing through him. He saw the woman he loved on the bed because he couldn’t handle his emotions. She was helpless in the situation that he had pinned onto her. She truly had no idea what she was doing, nor what she truly felt in her heart. I saw Legolas on the floor crying, blaming himself for what was happening. I knew at this moment that their love was strong, so strong that I wished not to come between them, but it was too late. I was involved.

Elladan left the room quickly, heading anywhere but in that room. In his mind, he was battling emotions, and his heart was not helping by telling him that he truly loved Merewen and she loved him in return. I knew this, but my conscience told me not to trifle in such matters. ‘Why did this have to happen like this?’ I thought.

King Thranduil came into the room, curiosity aroused by what was happening and saw his distraught son holding a very blood-covered and pale Merewen in his arms. My heart bled for him because I knew he was grieving over this turn of events. I held Legolas in my arms holding him from his love willing his pain to go away. My thoughts briefly turned to how these events came to pass.

“If only I had told Legolas about Elladan, or even that she was an empath, none of this would have happened,” I yelled at myself, placing all the blame on me. We put salves on the cuts and bandaged them to stop the bleeding, though she had already lost far too much blood. I went into the gardens to keep my emotions in check, “Merewen doesn’t need negativity right now, she needs love!” was what I thought before my thoughts turned to what had happened previously.

*Flashback*

“What was Elladan thinking? Did he not remember the powers that Merewen possessed? She just gained back her memories of more than a thousand years and now all she is receiving from him are emotions of fear, and anger! He should know better!” I said to myself as I watched Elladan attack Legolas, holding nothing back.

Legolas was doing nothing but defend himself from the attack, and get as far from Merewen as possible. I sat on the bed, willing love from myself to Merewen to take away the pain that she felt from the overwhelming feelings of hate and anger, which were emanating off of the two men she loved the most. When they were off the balcony, I followed in hopes that Merewen would be fine on her own. But I was wrong, so very wrong.

*End Flashback*

I sat down on the bench, and tears slid down my cheeks. It was then I felt two strong arms wrap around me and hold me tightly. I realized it was Haldir and instantly melted into his arms willing that his love could take away the pain.
