"Shade!" Hector shouted excitedly as he entered the cafeteria holding a lunch box in his hands. I gave him a small nod and continued eating the rather normal-looking burger in my hand. I always thought that the cafeteria's food is pretty bad judging from the numerous books that I've read. Unsurprisingly, his twin would be right behind him with a glare directed straight at me. Despite the obvious hostility, there was no killing intent but I suppose it started to make Hector feel uncomfortable after sitting down.

"Shade, this is my sister... Janice. Janice, this is Shade."

I coughed and nearly spit out my drink. Who names their children Janice anymore? As I tried to stop the coughing fit, which Janice obviously took as an insult. She slammed her hand on the table grabbed me by my collar.

"Got a problem with my name? You're just named after a colour." She growled and shoved me away.

"I like my name though... Janice." I taunted, hiding the smugness in my voice with a cough.

"If you call me Janice one more time I'll punch a hole through your lungs."

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but the last time your tried didn't work out so well, didn't it, Janice?"

"Fuck off."

"And so I did."

"You!"

"Sis, please back off." Hector begged, face red from embarrassment. We looked around and saw that we had gained the attention of curious gazes. She huffed and sat back down on the chair.

"Just call me Jan. If you call me Janice again, I'll drag you to hell." She mumbled. I bit back a smirk but didn't make fun of her for the rest of lunch. I made my way through the lessons easily, although I don't understand most of the things that were being taught. Hector and Jan took the pack car home, while I walked along the streets back to Rain's place. I was waiting at the traffic light when a glint caught my eye. I've felt this presence before. A nauseating one. I look sideways to see a pair of feet facing me, but the thing that caught my eye wasn't the shoe. It was the tattooed fingers with a weapon in its grasp.

A gun. Not just any gun. It is the same gun that strikes fear in me. I could feel my breathing hitch, my shadow slowly started to swirl, as if waking up in the face of danger. I focused my gaze on the floor but I can feel it. Him. A stare was directed at me, one of amusement and mischief. The nightmare flashes in my mind, reminding me of the cause of the nightmare. I can kill him, this curse was made for this. He is not a mage if he needs a gun, neither Rain nor Blaze can stop me alone, I should hold a chance against him.

"Ah ah ah, I don't think you wanna do that." He cheekily replied to the thoughts in my head. I stared at him in shock. But my resolve was unwavering at this point, I will not let Dan's killer escape. He didn't deserve to die that way, no one did. I'm already labeled as a murderer. One more wouldn't matter. I pointed at him, filling my thoughts with only killing the man in front of me. My shadows started moving wildly, controlled by my anger and fear.

"Kill him."

For the first time, it listened. The shadow shot out from my feet and crashed right into him at full force, sending him flying several meters away. I didn't stop there, I couldn't. I kept driving the shadows into him. I can feel that there is impact and collision but something doesn't feel right. I knew that I was doing nothing to him. I knew that there was no effect, even though I didn't want to admit it. I was desperate.

A sudden rush of fatigue strikes me and I collapsed, falling face-first onto the hard ground. Tears of hopelessness dripped from my eye, I wanted to wipe it away but I couldn't even move my arms anymore.
