Surprise...It's the Boyfriend

Kai's POV

Waking up didn't feel the same after what happened yesterday. My mind was all mixed up and all I wanted to do was stay in my room, but I knew that was impossible. I got dressed in a cute outfit.

(Kai's outfit) 

I walk to Tessa's room just as she walks out. We stood in awkward silence until Tessa said, "Kai, I know I messed up yesterday, but do you think we could move forward." I nod and hug her even though deep inside I couldn't forget what she did.

Releasing from the hug we walk out of the building to see Noah with flowers and a stuffie. He said, "Surprise." Tessa and I walked down as she said, "Wh-what are you-what are you doing here?" Now I knew I couldn't forget yesterday and now I knew I couldn't tell Noah for it wasn't my secret to tell.

Noah asked, "How are you two?" as he hugged Tessa and handed her the flowers. She said, "Thank you." He asked her, "You okay?" She said, "Yeah. No yeah, yeah. Of course." He said, "Ok."

 Noah hugged me saying, "I missed you, Blaze." I laugh and said, "I miss you too, Curly." He hands me the stuffie and I said, "Aww, thanks Curly. You remembered." He nods I turn to look at Tessa as she said once again, "Thank you." Noah asked us, "Yeah. So what are we going to do?" 

In Noah's Car

After showing Noah around the campus Tessa got a text from Steph saying 'bonfire tonight, bring Kai' so we are all going to a bonfire. I changed clothes because it was getting a little bit cold and I felt like it.

I was listening to the song 'Show Me How' by Men I Trust as I look out the window. My mind was running all over the place as I look at Noah and Tessa to see them laughing and smiling as they talk. My frown deepens as I put my head against the window hoping that this will end soon.

I heard Tessa say, "We're here." I got out with them to see a bunch of kids here. I heard Jace say, "What's up Tessa, Kai." Tessa said, "Hey." 

I said nothing as we walked towards them. I wave and that was it for me. Zed said, "So he does exist." I laugh and said, "Of course you moron." Zed and Noah introduced themselves to each other I look around.

I deeply regret it as I spot Molly the fake plastic dolly sitting on a log next to Hardin. The weird part was Hardin already staring at me with a frown as I slowly smile at him. I'm glad he's in pain, he deserves it. I look away when I heard Zed ask me, "Kai, you want some?" I shake my head 'no' looking through my phone.

Suddenly Molly the fake dolly came towards us and I knew that was a bad sign. She said, "Hey Tessa, didn't expect to see you here."

I was glaring at her as she continued to speak, "So how about we play a game of suck and blow?" I roll my eyes at their childish games. Jace came and sat between Steph and Tessa and I knew what was going to happen. 

Everyone said, "Yes!" Excited for the game as I waited for the move Molly the fake dolly and Jace the clownly were going to make. As the game happened it was going fine until Jace blew the paper off saying, "You know what that means." 

He leans close to Tessa as she said, "Uh...no, no." Noah was pushing Jace back and saying, "Woah dude don't go there alright." Jace said, "Chill. It's just a game." 

Watching as Tessa tried to lean away as Jace kept coming towards her and Noah pushing back made me block out their arguing as I stood up from Noah's side. 

I made my way in front of Jace and kicked his stomach making him groan in pain. He said, "What was that for?!" He stood up as if trying to challenge me and I was ready to kick his ass ignoring Tessa and Noah yelling at me to stop. Before Jace could hit me he was tackled to the ground by Hardin.

Watching Hardin hit Jace as Noah and Zed pull them apart made me freeze. I was stuck emotionless as I stare at Hardin to see he is already looking at me with an emotion I couldn't believe. He walked away as he and I ignored the sound of the people around us. I look at Tessa to see her staring where Hardin left.

In Dorm

After the fight, we left. The ride was silent except for the talk of Noah and Tessa. I was thinking about Hardin and why he stared at me with that look. I knew that look well because I write and read about in stories.

Noah and Tessa went back to Tessa's room to watch a movie while I was going to work on some assignments. Reaching my room I ran inside and instantly started working so I could get my mind off that look on Hardin's face. That look scared me.

After I think a few hours it was probably late when I got a call. I check the ID and it said 'Landon' I answered

(Kai, Landon)

Kai: Hello Landon

Landon: Hi Kai, Can you come to my house really quick?

Kai: Sure, is something wrong?

Landon: *sigh* It's Hardin. Please come fast

Kai: I'm on my way.

I hang up and grab my keys to my motorcycle Alice gave me as a farewell gift. My mom and Tess don't know about it. I made my way to the address Landon gave me. I enter the house to see a huge mess and it made me think about why Hardin did this.

Landon came up to me and said, "Thanks for coming. I called Tessa, she is outside talking to Hardin." I nod "Here, let me help. I used to clean up my friend's messes. This isn't the worst I have seen." I joke making him and me laugh and start cleaning. 

Landon went to get some more equipment I was sweeping the floor when I heard the door open. I look and saw Hardin holding Tessa's hand that was bleeding. I sigh and made my way over to them and grabbed Tessa's hand and started to clean and bandage it. 

She asked me, "Kai, what are you doing here?" I look up at her before focusing back on her cut saying, "Landon called me. He was worried about cleaning up the mess himself since you and Hardin were talking." I lied. I knew why Hardin got angry Landon told me Tessa's and my name were thrown in and I knew why.

I walk away from them and started cleaning when I heard Hardin say, "You go up to my room. I need to speak to Kai." Tessa nodded and left upstairs as Hardin and I were the only ones in the room.

I asked, "Why?" not looking at him knowing he was very well looking at me. He said, "What?" I sigh and said, "Why did you hit Jace, you knew I could've beaten his ass, so why?" He said nothing and that moment I knew and said, "Go, Tessa is waiting." 

I heard Hardin walking away but before he could leave I said, "Hardin." making him stop and turn to me as I turned to him and said, "Don't you fall in love with me, and if you do...stay the hell away from me or else you'll regret it." 

I go back to cleaning as I heard Hardin walk up the stairs that moment Landon came in saying, "I got them." I smile and we managed to clean everything back to the way it was before.

Landon thanked me and I told him it was nothing as we said goodbye. I got on my motorcycle and headed to my dorm as I was angry. Making my way to my room, I stop in front of Tessa's door before I continue to walk to mine. I was out like a light as I knew tomorrow I was going to need all the rest I could get.
