Wow...Relationships

Kai's POV

I was walking with Tessa smiling and laughing as we talked. I decided to ask her, "Tessa?" she turns to me as I continued, "Do you love Hardin?" She looks at me and we stop walking as she said, "Yes, I do. I really do Kai." 

I smile and said, "Then I'm happy for you. I really am." Deep down I knew that this was a game where she was going to get hurt. When that time comes I thought I knew what to do, but now it has changed since Hardin has feelings for me. 

So when that time comes I don't know what I'll do. And honestly, that scares me. Tessa and I decided to grab a coffee or in my case a hot chocolate. 

When Hardin pulled up right in front of the coffee shop asking Tessa through the window, "You okay?" 

She said, "Yeah. Where've you been?" I stand by her just thinking about how this will go.

Hardin smirks and says, "Jump in and I'll show you." Tessa gets in the car before saying to me, "Come on, Kai."

I said, "I'm not sure Hardin wants me to come. I'll just go back to my room." I didn't want to be a third wheel. 

Besides I should stay away from Hardin and Tessa to make sure I don't mess up anything. I was ready to start walking when my hand was grabbed.

I look to see Tessa and she said, "Please, I want you to come and Hardin won't mind. Do you Hardin?" Hardin looked at me and said, "Nope, not at all." 

He smirked knowing that I didn't want to come. I sigh and got in the car as Tessa cheered making me smile a little. 

Quickly my thoughts changed knowing I was sitting with someone who liked me but dating my sister. Why did the world have to be cruel to her? 

My Tessa how much hurt you will be when you find it was really for me he fell. I'm sorry I couldn't stop you, but I tried my best.

Throughout the whole drive, I stayed quiet and looked out the window thinking how it got to this. Oh well, I guess this is how the story goes.

I wonder what my real mom is doing and I wonder if she's looking for me. I feel like the scene from 'Wizard of Oz' where Dorthy cries for Auntie Em, but it's the wicked witch.

Hardin stopped the car and turn to us and said, "Close both of your eyes." I look at him suspiciously as Tessa said, "Really?" 

He laughs and said, "Just trust me." Tessa said, "Okay." and did it. Hardin looks at me and I sigh covering my eyes. He helps us get out of the car.

I'm being dragged somewhere and I hear Tessa giggle making me roll my eyes. Suddenly we stop and Hardin asks us, "You both ready?" Tessa said, "Yes." I nodded.

Hardin asked again, "Are you both sure?" Tessa said, "Yes." while I just roll my eyes. Soon my hands were moved from my eyes and I saw a place in front of me.

Tessa said, "Whose place is this?" and Hardin answered, "A friend of my fathers. A professor." So this is basically one of those stays at their home while they are away situations.

I walk around while Tessa asks, "Where are they?" Hardin answers, "She's in Italy. All year. I'm suppose to be watering the plants." 

I laugh knowing that Hardin probably won't be watering the plants in this place. Sad, those poor plants will have to suffer for a whole year. 

Tessa said, "Oh she paints...it's really nice." I look at her paintings and said, "As an artist myself, I think these are really beautiful." 

Tessa looks at me and said, "Kai, your paintings are out of this world beautiful. You got offered to have one hanged in a museum." 

I smile and said, "Yeah, but it's not because I'm good at it that I do it. I do it because I'm able to express myself and my stories through my art. I put my heart and emotions into the pieces." 

Tessa nods at me while both of us don't notice Hardin looking at me with a smile on his face. He says walking to Tessa holding her, "Imagine if it were our place." 

Tessa leans into his arms and said, "Sure." Hardin said, "It can be." Tessa turns around to face Hardin and said, "Wait, you mean like live together." 

I stay away and stay where I am far from their conversation. I drowned out the rest of the conversation when I see Hardin spinning Tessa around. Tessa laughs and runs up to me saying, "I'm going to be living with Hardin!"

I smile and said, "That's amazing Tessa. I'm happy for you." Tessa hugs me and said, "You can visit and stay here sometimes, too." 

Before I could protest Hardin said, "Yeah, I don't mind if you lived here, too. We have extra rooms." I gave them a cute smile while shaking my head saying, "Okay."

Tessa jumps up and down with me. I laugh, but when I look at Hardin my smile disappears. I'm scared of what going to happen soon.

I see him looking at us with a smile, but when he sees that I'm looking at him, he smirks. I turn away and face Tessa saying, "I should go back and pack up my stuff." 

I left without letting Tessa say a word. I wanted to be alone as I walked back to campus. My head was filled with thoughts and predictions.

When I reached my room. I lean back against the door and sigh. How was I going to do this? This story is falling apart and no matter what I do nothing changes.

I lay down on my bed and cry. This was a bad idea from the start. Why did I believe I could fix it? I made it worse. Closing my eyes so I could wake from this dream I'm living in.
