Chapter Sixteen

"...the only true dark side left," Virgil explained. "The orange journal you read was his. I don't remember a lot of what happened during that time since he locked himself away from us while he was going through his thing."

Logan nodded and thought carefully about how to word his next question.

"Do you think that A might be able to help Janus?" he asked slowly.

Virgil thought about it then nodded, his eyes glimmering with distaste at the thought.

"He and Jan were close. Much closer than the rest of us. Makes you wonder why Janus didn't stay a dark side," Virgil said as he leaned back on the bed.

Logan looked at him.

"For the same reason you didn't - to help Thomas."

The corners of Virgil's mouth twitched up.

"Fair."

Janus, Roman, Patton, Remus, and Thomas were in the living room getting ready to watch a movie.

"So what should we watch?" Roman asked the group.

It was quiet as the group thought.

"Hamilton!" Remus called out suddenly, making the others jump.

Roman looked at his brother with an eyebrow raised.

"I'd've expected something much grosser than that from you," he told Remus.

Remus just rolled his eyes and shrugged.

"What can I say? Jefferson is fucking hot."

They all smiled. That was hard to disagree with.

Roman went onto Disney+ and selected Hamilton.

"What. A. Whore," Remus chuckled as Say No To This was playing.

No one said anything but they were all agreeing in their minds.

Logan and Virgil came in.

"Oh you're at the part with the whore," Virgil commented with a smirk.

They all turned to face the two.

"Where have you two been?" Patton asked.

"We were in Virgil's room," Logan told him.

Remus looked him up and down with a grin.

"Wouldn't have thought that pale, broody emo was your type, Logan," he said as he wiggled his eyebrows.

Logan looked at him with confusion while Virgil went wide-eyed and his face started to burn. He stood there for almost a minute trying to properly form words before just giving up and slapping Remus across the face.

Remus just laughed at the tingling sensation in his cheek.

Janus and Roman had been giggling quietly the whole time.

Thomas just looked unimpressed and Patton was sighing in a 'damn kids' kind of way.

"W-We were just talking!" Virgil finally spluttered out.

"About what?" Remus asked, not willing to drop it so soon.

"YOU GODDAMN-"

"We were discussing some books in our attempt to figure out what's happening to Janus," Logan cut in before Virgil lost it.

Janus looked at Logan.

"Find anything?" he asked, keeping the hope out of his voice. Though he had to grab his tail to keep it from swishing around.
