Chapter 20: Qualifiers Part 1

Suga's P.O.V.

I guess it's finally here. Day one of qualifiers. The team has come so far, they've got this. They can do it.

"Kōshi." Y/n says softly while tugging on my shirt.

"Yeah?"

"You've got this, the team isn't complete without you." How did she know I was thinking them and not including myself?

"How'd-"

"Your smile changes when you doubt yourself, it gets all sad and longing like. You're a part of the team Kōshi, ask any one of them and they'll say that you help the team work to it's best ability."

"I- mm, Thank you sugar, you don't know how much that means to me." I say as I pull her into a hug and burry my head into the crook of her neck.

"If I play cheer me on?"

"When you play I'll already be cheering for you. I don't think I've ever stopped cheering you on."

"You make me happy."

"You make me happy too Kōshi, now get back to warning up before Daichi scolds the both of us." Y/n giggles. Ohgiminami High is our first game of the day. Based on what I've seen they're no power house school but that doesn't mean we shouldn't treat them like a threat.

Y/n's P.O.V.

Our first day went by pretty quickly but everyone still looks pretty beat. I should start thinking about something to do for the boys. Maybe I can get Kiyoko and Yachi in on it and we all do something really nice for them. Win or lose. They work too hard not to have something special done for them.

As I'm about to run down to meet up with everyone while they file towards the bus I'm stopped by a tall bleach blonde boy in yellow.

"Hey gorgeous!"

"Uhh umm hello?"

"What's your name beautiful?"

"Y/n now if you'll excuse me I've got to head out."

"I can walk you to wherever you're headed."

"No I'm fine, thanks."

"Wait" I feel a hand wrap around my wrist as I try to walk away."

"Can I get your number?"

"I don't think so." I say while trying to pull my wrist away.

"Aw come-on what's the harm in giving me a phone number?"

"Really I've gotta get go-" I'm cut off by Hinata running up to me.

"SORRY TO INTERUPT BUT Y/N AND I HAVE TO GET GOING NOW!" Hinata yells stiffly while now standing in-between the tall bleach blonde and I.

Hinata gets no more than a glance from the guy infront of me before getting shoved to the side.

"My name's Terishima by the way, but I'll let you call me whatever you want." He says while leaning in a little.

Suddenly I feel two hands on my shoulders behind me and a stern yet familiar voice speak, "Hi, what business do you have with y/n?"

"None of your business."

"Well if you don't have any business with y/n I'll be taking her with me now." Suddenly I feel myself get lifted off the ground and am being walked away with.

"Have a nice day." Suga says as he walks off with me.

"Well this is different Kōshi."

"I didn't like how he was bothering you and he had a grip of your hand so I improvised."

"WOW SUGAWARA THAT WAS SO COOL! YOU JUST WALKED OFF WITH Y/N!" Hinata yelled while jumping up and down.

"Heh well I guess."

"Suga you can put me down now." I whisper into Suga's ear."

"Nope not until we're on the bus I don't want someone else trying to flirt with you."

"And I thought you weren't jelous."

"I'm not just protective." He says as he plants a kiss on my cheek and sets me down.

Day two of qualifiers starts off with everyone pretty hyped. I've started talking to Kiyoko and Yachi about the special surprise for the boys and they both seem to really love the idea I have in mind.

As we walk up to the building we're met with the team we're playing next, Johzenji High. Noya, Hinata, and Tanaka start to pick a fight with the team and Daichi and Suga are quick to pull them back.

"Hey y/n! I look forward to getting your number!" Terishima yells and waves. Suga grabs my hand and interlaces out fingers as we start to walk towards the gym.

"Don't worry Kōshi, he's not getting my number."

"I know sugar but still, I want people knowing you're taken... And I just get nervous."

"Aww babyyy" I tease. Suga cocks his eyebrow and smiles before picking me up and questioning, "baby?"

"I- just- okay I get it put me downnnn." I pout. Suga laughs and places me back down. 

"Good luck!"

"Thanks." I get a quick for head kiss before we both run off in our separate directions.

Soon enough it's late in the day and in the middle of our second match after winning against Johzenji. Today is really dragging out. This game is great though, I'll have to give Hinata some more power pointers though. I know he could hit harder, maybe I'll have him join me with my workouts. That might help. As I'm starting to get lost in thought I see Daichi and Tanaka head for the same save. FUCK they're gonna collide! Just as I thought it Daichi and Tanaka collided and it looks painful. I run down from the seats and hurry down the stairs towards the gym. Idiots the both of them fucking fools. I swear if they're hurt I'll kill them both. I run up to Ukai and Daichi to see what's wrong.

"I'm fine, I'm fine don't worry guys."

"Bullshit."

"Y/n relax I'm fine."

"I'll believe it when I see."

"Are you not seeing me?"

"You're not fine look at your face!"

"I said I'm okay."

"Tanaka are you alright?"

"Yeah I'm okay, I'm really sorry Daichi."

"Don't worry about him Tanaka you're not bleeding and your pupils aren't dilated so you should be good to play." (Authors note: when you get a concussion your pupils dilate.)

I hear Hinata and Yamaguchi cringe and gag and I turn around to see that Daichi spit out a tooth.

"See idiot! That's it you're going to the infermery." Kiyoko and I take Daichi to the infermery while the rest of the team is left with worried faces.

"You've all got this." I reassure them one last time before I head off with Daichi.

AHHH so this is a super short chapter and it ended off kinda weird and it's definitely not very well written but I felt bad for not updating in a week so here you go. I'm sorry about my slow updates this probably won't be the last time.

I really thought I was doing well with getting over all the toxic stuff that happened *redacted* but something happened and I am in fact not vibing. So bare with me. I love you all and you all help me get though the day so I thought I'd just let you know that 🤍
