Chapter thirteen

Elsa's POV

He was being so, sweet. Then he asked me to skate with him. He was a very graceful skater so I said yes. Soon, we were doing all sorts of tricks together gliding on the ice. Right after the jump I turned around and he was lying on the ground clutching his chest and screaming in agony. Brooke rushed over to him. Apparently she was the smartest in the group. "We need to get him to Cogsworth." She said. "No, no no no. We are not taking him to that git who claims to be a doctor." Lumiere said. Brooke silenced him with a look. "We are taking him whether you want to or not! Got that?" He sighed. "Fine fine." "Good now help me get him to the tower. They heaved up Jacks limp body. Soon, they were making there way across the ice towards the castle. I walked alongside them. Gazing at Jack. I was so worried. Then I realised something. I loved this man. Despite the cruel words, the whips, there was a kind soul in there, fighting to be heard. That was what I had fallen for. He was mischievous, cared about children, and always up for fun. He was just lost in darkness. I knew that I had to help eliminate this darkness somehow. We arrived at a small room in a tower. A stout man with a arrogant air stepped forward. "Lumiere. To what do I owe this, unpleasant suprise." Lumiere just growled. "Can it clock." Brooke then stepped forward glaring at them like a mother would two naughty children. "How about instead of arguing like buffoons we help the master? Is that so difficult?" I smiled at Brooke. This girl gets things done. Cogsworth, just noticing Jack gasped and rushed over to him. He started checking him. His eyes widened in shock as he put a stethoscope to his chest. "He has a heartbeat." Brooke and Lumiere gasped while I remained puzzled. "Don't all people have heartbeats?" Brooke looked at me and explained. "Well, not the master. He has, no, correction, had no heart before. This is the first time it has beat ever. That is why he collapsed." I was shocked. How could someone have no heart? I had felt a small thing when I had hugged him. "What do you mean he had no heart? No one can survive without a heart!" "Well, you see where his heart was the power of others fear kept him alive. Like his father Pitch. Now that he has a heart he is powerless and weak so that is why he passed out." Cogsworth then spoke. "He should be fine. He will be up and about in a few hours." I sighed with relief. He was going to be alright.

Jack's POV

Whewn I woke up again I felt different. There was a small thumping sound in my chest. I look over to see Cogsworth looking at me and Elsa sleeping in a comfy armchair. The thing thumped faster when I saw her. Cogsworth smiled at me. "How do you feel master?" "I feel strange. There is something thumping in my chest and I don't know what it is." He smiled even wider. "That master is your heart. You finally have one." Wow. All the immpossible has happened over these past few days. I had fallen in love and I had gained a heart. Elsa then awoke I the chair. Her gaze went to me immediately. "Jack!" She cried out. She then ran and gave me a hug. I hugged her tightly. She broke away and told me. "I'm so glad you are okay. We were all so worried." "We?" Brooke stepped out of the shadows. "We." She said and ran and gave me a small hug. Behind my back she handed me something. She then whispered. "Give these to her later. They're her favorites." And then she broke away. I looked behind my back and saw a dozen white roses stained with dewdrops. I hid them in the shadows and transported them through the shadows. Then I got out of bed and made my way to my office. I had a letter from Transylvania. Count Dracula and his daughter Mavis were coming. Also there was a letter from Jack. He was coming with a girl named Sally. I sat down to check through all the mail. Emily is coming with her date a normal man. Then I went over to Elsa again. I knocked on her bedroom door. Soon I was greeted by Babette. "Oh, 'ello master Jack. Elsa is not here at ze moment, she is in ze library with Brooke." "Thank you Babette." She just stared after me with a shocked look on her face. I guess I have never said thank you before.

I then saw Elsa and Brooke deep in discussion about Augustus Waters. Don't know who he is but he is probably a character in a book. I cleared my throat and they both saw me. "Elsa may I speak with you in private?" She nodded. I pulled her into the door. "Well, we are having a ball in a week and I wonder if you will let me be your escort." I held out the boquet of flowers. She looked very shocked. "Jack, these are my favorite. How did you know? And of course I would. Thank you for asking." I smiled said. "A little bird told me." Then I made my way back to the study. This was going to be a happy week.
