"Girls, please do not make a scene. I am giving you the chance to leave while everyone else must stay on campus. Do not disappoint." Madam Maxime instructed as she held the door to a carriage for us. We nodded, sending our head of school a reassuring smile. If we wanted to get this opportunity, we needed to be suck ups. "S'amuser!"
"Thank you Madam Maxime!" Fleur smiled as the teacher shut the door and we were off.
Eloise and Fleur made us an appointment with a small boutique in Hogsmeade. We were going to try on as many dresses as we wanted and pick out favorite for the dance.
There was a potential for fun, but there was also a potential for pure torturous hours of shopping.
"Zis is going to be so much fun!" Vivienne cheered as we walked into the store. She normally wasn't very into these things, but a very good looking Hogwarts seventh year asked her so now she's a little more invested.
"Yes it will be!" Eloise agreed, pulling Mia and Olivia behind her by their wrists. My cousins sent me a look that clearly said 'save me' like she expected me to help. She was the reason we were here in the first place, she was going to be tortured just as much, if not more, than me.
"Let's go Char." Fleur instructed, opening the door for me and gesturing for me to enter. As a response, I just grumbled nothing in particular and walked in.
The small shop was decorated in soft colors, lots of grays and pastels. It was really cute. Dresses hung on never ending racks, lining the rooms. It almost looked like a rainbow threw up. In one corner of the shop there was a circle of chairs and couches. I made a beeline for the seating. This was going to take a while, I might as well get comfortable first. There would be time for me to find a dress later.
"Welcome girls." A kind looking woman who looked like she was in her late thirties. She was dressed in a long orange dress reaching to her mid calf. Her long black hair fell at about her mid back. She smiled at us and obviously took note of our age. "What can I help you with? Are you here for a dress for the ball?"
"Yes! We are in need of many dresses." Mia smiled, bouncing on her toes lightly. She was both excited and nervous. It was kind of sweet to watch her buzz around doing things. It was better than Fleur who just kind of glided as she did things. I could only take so much grace, if that makes sense. Eloise and Vivienne were definitely buzzing as well as they looked around at all the colors and kinds of dresses. Olivia on the other hand stuck to my side.
"Are you okay?" I tried to whisper to the younger girl next to me. Her eyes grew wide at the sound of my voice.
"Oh, uh... yeah! This is all just a little bit overwhelming." She replied sending me a small smile.
"You're sure that's all?"
"Yes, I swear I'm fine Char." She assured, showing me an actual smile this time.
"Good. There's no reason for you to be stressed right now. Literally none at all. Try to have fun, even though I know these ones can be a little much at times." I urged, moving us to take a seat in front of a small set of dressing rooms. There were three so I figured I could wait and let the more energized girls take their turn first. Olivia seemed to have a similar idea as she sat right next to me on the plush velvet couch. Everything was a soft color, including the almost maroon of out seat. Mia was quick to grab a dark navy dress and head into the center dressing room while the three other girls were gathered in a corner looking at almost wedding dress-like dresses. "Um... guys! You might want to air on the side of a color other than white. You don't want to look like you're going to your wedding."
"Charlie, shush." Fleur urged, not even bothering to glance my way. Thank you dear cousin....
"So what do you think?" Mia interrupted my thoughts as she aggressively whisked the curtain to the side so we could see her and her dress in all their glory.
