"What? Our real names? Aaron is my real name!" Aaron shouted. "My parents- mppphhhhh" Kristen, or Ena slammed her hand against his loud mouth. She wasn't sure what to call herself. It's not everyday you are told you've been using the wrong name your whole life. But then again, she had no idea who this person was and why he had the right to tell her she was wrong about anything.
"Follow me. The child of the flame is much more obedient." The white-dressed girl remarked. "By the way, my name is Jennifer. I am a ghast hybrid." Her white dress trailed behind her as she rushed down the hall.
"Ugh, I don't like her. Such a know-it-all." Aaron mumbled.
Jennifer twisted her head around slowly. "Wha-what did you just say?" Tears streamed down her cheeks. "Ho-how could you do that? So rude! I just saved your life!" Her ears turned red and she began to hover above the ground. "Don't talk behind my back again!" Her voice sounded like a baby wailing. A depressed, scary baby wailing.
Jennifer quickly clamped her hand over her mouth. She blushed, and stuttered. "I apologize. Ghasts always know when someone is doing something wrong, and they have very strong emotions. It appears my inner hybrid took over for a bit." She turned around quickly and jogged down the hall.
The two friends nervously glanced at each other, then they followed.
The three walked into a room, with armor all over the walls. The pale girl sighed.
"I am afraid you must wear the following to be sure this is no threat." She motioned to two pairs of red leggings and a red tunic for each. "Your clothes will be confiscated and given back to you when you leave. If you leave. You will also be patted down by three guards each before entering the master's room. I will leave you to dressing. Do not even think of pulling anything. There are sound monitors in these rooms that will hear your every word." Jennifer rushed out of the room and locked the door.
Afraid of death, the two mortals quickly put on their clothes and knocked on the door. Jennifer slowly walked in. "I apologize for what is about to happen in advance. We cannot afford for people to learn how to navigate around the building." She slowly walked over to the shelves and picked up a stick. Before Kristen or Aaron could realize what was about to happen to them, they were knocked out into dreams.
Kristen stared at pitch blackness. She whimpered in the corner of what she thought was a box. A man in a blue suit approached her.
"I am terribly sorry about how you have been treated. You must know that no one here means any harm. This chip was inserted into your body after your knockout. I am Quin, your 'friend of the mind', as they call it. There is nothing to be afraid of. Now, when you press your fingers up against your temples, you may visit me. You are being carried to the king. No questions will be asked of you unless I tell you to talk."
This was unbelievable. Kristen took a deep breath. It was insane that this man pops up inside her mind and starts taking charge. IN-SANE.
"Now, I shall warp you back to reality." Quin snapped his fingers and Kristen immediately woke up. A short man was shaking her.
